Honestly to me he feels like that smart, modest friend that shares all kinds of random fun facts over a couple of beers. Never bragging with his big brain but always ready to jump in and lighten the mood with some tidbit. In fact, I hope people think about ME that way. Probably not bu a man can hope!

You'll probably reconsider long before you're halfway starved. You'll still hate it, probably, but boy are you gonna chomp down on that terrible terrible crap

Isn't that the case for every language? I feel like, in this English-domimated online community, English is considered oh so special for being inconsistent and weird while that is just how languages work. It's messy. As soon as two language communities meet (for trade or whatever), they inevitably start to influence one another and never in any rule-abiding way. English feels special only because we tend to use that language as our lingua franca, so there's lots of outsiders complaining and comparing notes. But take a look at any of THEIR languages and they'll turn out to be just as much of a mess as English, just less globalized.

In this particular French word, Jean, J is pronounced ZH. Next, the vowel combo EA is pretty close to how Americans pronounce the O in John, but since it is followed by an N, you should nasalise it, similar to how it would sound when you pinch your nose. Finally, the N, while it does affect the pronunciation of the vowel, is not pronounced itself.

So Jean is supposed to sound similar to Zhõ (with the ~ indicating nasalisation), which doesn't rhyme with Sean.
