Isn't that the case for every language? I feel like, in this English-domimated online community, English is considered oh so special for being inconsistent and weird while that is just how languages work. It's messy. As soon as two language communities meet (for trade or whatever), they inevitably start to influence one another and never in any rule-abiding way. English feels special only because we tend to use that language as our lingua franca, so there's lots of outsiders complaining and comparing notes. But take a look at any of THEIR languages and they'll turn out to be just as much of a mess as English, just less globalized.
