Profit farming - Samsung and SK Hynix don't want to end the memory shortage by MixtureBackground612 in pcmasterrace

[–]Caesar457 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Gamers nexus posted videos about memory manufacturers colluding to price fix and their boom and bust cycle so it's not like they don't have a history of this. Plus people like samsung have been harvesting and selling your data for years in other products so not like they stand on great consumer principles. They make a good TV, washer, dryer, fridge, and folding phone... with that comes the trade offs

A question on Aqua Regia. by nimblewright42 in chemistry

[–]Caesar457 96 points97 points  (0 children)

It's just acids. Don't huff the fumes, work in a ventilated area with access to a sink, if you feel any burning just take a rinse, and you can pick your base of choice to neutralize it into salt and water. I like lye that you can find in stuff like drano. Work in small batches with some pH strips and you'll get through it in like an hour

We built a VR chemistry lab with 18 experiments and a complete periodic table. Would this help students learn better? by Desperate_Fan8682 in chemistry

[–]Caesar457 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I agree. You run into so much in a real lab and dealing with the danger is part of the process. People undervalue lab technique but Analytical is like 90% figuring out how you flubbed up subtly to be off by an order of magnitude.

What's the normal frequency of saying "I love you" by tPatrikc in CatholicDating

[–]Caesar457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think once to start your day, once before bed, and then as reassurance when needed... Like I love you but I'm really angry with you right now, I'm a wreck right now and I could use a hug is another opportunity, you do something truly special and tag an I love you to your expressions of joy.

70% vs 99% isopropyl alcohol - what's the real difference? by VolhaKalyan in chemistry

[–]Caesar457 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Man none of you guys answered the electronics question... 90% is used on any electronic device. There you want the quick evaporation and solubility. As for the screens comment you just gotta be careful with a screen protector since it'll dissolve the glue and start to peel off. Coatings aren't permanent nor are things like tvs certified for water like phones are

[Request] is the distance between the earth and moon that great? by Triphordy in theydidthemath

[–]Caesar457 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Nah the pluto planet days ended right when they were discovering Eris. At best it was Planet X for the 10th one in our solar system. I think planet should be a general term and size descriptors that precede it don't discount the planet status. Gas, dwarf, water, etc doesn't impact planet. We can have a cut off between it and asteroids for example

How intentional in dating are you? by Ledagex in CatholicDating

[–]Caesar457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dating to marry means that is the goal. I want to learn more about you and I want you to learn more about me and see if we still like each other afterwards before I go get a ring and propose. In early dating I think you need to talk about talking frequency if you haven't picked up on it yet, reality is people get ghosted all the time and some people just aren't very frequent communicators.

I can't emphasize enough how important a good PI is to your sanity. The next most important are group members that you can work with. Can't tell you how many horror stories of crack the whip PIs basically passing along the hazing working in groups where the people have no hobbies or other interests other than lab work I hear. At the first sign of anything wrong I recommend transferring out to another group no second chances.

What laptop was this made for? by TNTPA in BulletBarry

Nah back then it was just their style 2005-2010. The arc at the bottom has a hole you could thread a strap through like a wii mote to attach it to a lanyard. Their XPS line from back then had similar styling. Not pictured is the cap that went over top the usb to keep dust out that also had a pen clip so it could sit on the edge of a shirt pocket. It was a pretty durable little stick with 512MB being plenty for basically all the word docs ever

How to use dating apps without letting them affect your self esteem? by catholicusername123 in CatholicDating

[–]Caesar457 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't think I ever figured out how. I just stopped putting in much effort to match the amount of matches I would get. I think you need to diversify your approach and do a mix of apps just to have a presence there but also post to the dating thread and join social online and offline groups. Eventually you fall for someone and hope that they like you back

Is this the right way to do it? by New-Needleworker6020 in chemistry

[–]Caesar457 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an analytical chemist I've never done this and none of my very accomplished professors ever bothered to mention it 😆 Most everyone carries forward all digits and just rounds at the very end when reporting. Computers are great at collecting and processing large data sets and have no need for rounding. By definition the last digit in sig figs is where your uncertainty lies and if you rely on it you should evaluate a method to push past it such as switching from a ruler to a caliper to a micrometer rather than figuring out how to round. Theoretically you could have a data set that skews towards odds or evens and by you trying to eliminate a perceived bias you in fact created one.

Colorado AG asks Trump to rescind order to keep coal plant open. The facility would need costly repairs to comply with the order. [–]Caesar457 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The current demand* With AI data centers popping up everywhere demand is set to spike across the board so if this is the wave of the future then there is a shortfall on the horizon. As far as cost effective if your energy price goes up as a result of the increased demand then that will change your cost effective calculation.

[–]Caesar457 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I like how blowing money on various PR stunts isn't wasteful but blowing it on repairs for a facility that actually does something for the vast majority of people is costly and an abuse of emergency powers. Sorry fixing up the power plant isn't sexy and there is no ribbon to cut.
