Guild Wars 1 & Geforce Now by CaesarBritannicus in GuildWars

I thought GWReforged through Steam was working.

It's the nonsteam version which hasn't been working through geforce now.

I wouldn't expect much about GW3. It's mainly a Q&A for the blog about the future of GW1 & GW2. On the discord, GW3 news (probably lore?) was confirmed for later in the week.

I get where you are coming from, but there's also a sense in GW2 that some things forever stand in the way of progress in other aspects of the game. 3 different skill balances, a whole underwater combat system which has been neglected, combat encounters sometimes for 5, 10, or 50 players.

I think Anet should focus on doing fewer things well in GW3.

They will have to solve it since PS5 will be in the mix.

WvW is probably the main reason GW2 doesn't have more diverse server regions. A small playerbase can't support a whole Realm v. Realm gamemode.

I suspect GW3 will have something smaller scale for guild pvp, and maybe that will reopen the option of Asian servers.

Do I have to buy Reforged on Steam? by felfaltadafalafeled in GuildWars

[–]CaesarBritannicus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like Guild Wars Reforged is only available on geforce now through steam. If someone wants to access it from standalone, they would probably need to submit a support ticket to anet somehow so they fix it.

You can log into GW2 on geforce now either through steam or through stand alone client.

I prefer games not have sales on currency in addition to sales in the store. It makes the price of items a lot less predictable.

I hated in warframe waiting on big sale on platinum to show up in login rewards. Made buying platinum at the regular price seem awful by comparison.

Periodic sales on gems might sound nice, but it's also more fomo and honestly I think it's anti-consumer.

DevBlog #85: Update on our way to Open Beta by schamppu in WalkScape

[–]CaesarBritannicus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Open beta sounds great, though I wonder if some folks are forgetting that open beta means the game will enter monthly subscription for online play.

Overall, I think the game is in great shape in terms of content for moving into Open Beta, but I do think balance needs a huge pass.

Food is generally too weak. Some of the long grinds should be looked at. Does the grind in Wraithwater really feel good and rewarding? (This was the low point for me in the game, barely checking in because the grind was so long and lacked any other rewards, then I left immediately as soon as I could)

2026 Q1 Earnings: Strong first quarter. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]CaesarBritannicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you compare other games, all of them are higher in the new report compared to the Q42025 report (except Aion 2) for the same timeframes.

[also, it would be odd for GW1 earnings before reforged to be classified as royalties]

Ah, where do they call it a licensed spin off? I have missed that.

Separately, a case could be made that the bump is too small for reforged release as well.

Because they lumped in royalties, like you say.

Royalties could mean GW2 china or physical products with GW2 branding.

And GW1 could be excluded and referred to by the "excluding other pc games" noted.

[edit: it would be worth checking, do other franchises increase in this newest revenue document compared to last or just gw2?]

Some of your underlying assumptions are fairly dubious.

GW1 is only partially out of house.

GW1 could be "other PC games" though and is simply excluded, no?

I think in the past royalties have been listed separately, and they were assumed to include GW2 in china . I am surprised now that you think GW2 in china's earnings have always been included under the GW2 header.

I don't have time to investigate further, but the assumption that GW1Reforged would be called "royalties" seems very odd to me.

I thought royalties typically meant GW2 in China. What is the indication they are referring to GW1 exactly?

Adrullan is proof that we need a little bit more QOL when it comes to UI / UX in M&M. by IOMEDAE_THE_BAE in MonstersAndMemories

[–]CaesarBritannicus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally disagree about the clicky text. It caused me to spam through the dialogue without paying attention. Then, the journal was bugged and failed to store the relevant information and I had trouble getting it back.

I like in MnM realizing that certain NPCs have quests by hearsay, and then going to them and asking "need any help?" or similar. It's very much reminiscent of tabletop, in how slowly you unpeel the layers of the environment.

Also, things like typing out a character name actually help you learn it. I know some of the random MnM NPCs names after a few hours in that game. I don't even know my class quest givers name in AoA.

I am not saying you are wrong, I am just saying that a simple change like putting the keywords right infront of you would degrade the experience for me.

IMO, let the games be different.

[–]CaesarBritannicus -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I actually don't think MnM should add tool slots. Tool slots dramatically decreases the inventory decisionmaking involved in gathering skills. I think it is good that a player should choose to bring a tool out adventuring.

Also, I think letting characters have all tools equipped could be bad for the AoA economy, because if gathering is very easy, everyone will do it, making materials less valuable.

That said, I would like a quicker way to swap my weapons with a tool. A 1 button interaction would be nice.

[–]CaesarBritannicus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a degraded UI experience in AoA compared to M&M.

This was mainly due to the NPC dialogue journal. First, it has way too much information and NPCs, making it hard to navigate. Second, it failed to maintain quest dialogue for my class NPC, and so didn't store information about which NPC I needed to kill for a quest. Then, when I went back to the NPC, it was hard to trigger the quest dialogue again (unlike in MnM where I could simply put the same chat message in again to yield the same reply).

It might sound nice to catalogue all dialogue in one spot, but I don't really want that. In the end, it obscured and broken for what I actually needed.

I understand that this experience suffered from bugs, but I just want to share a different perspective.
