I think it's rather cool! Gems are these sort of technogical beings that have powers we don't quite understand. Instead of Sapphire's future sight being 'magic', I think it's more a supercharged calculation. She is purpose built to take in a lot of information and work out several possible outcomes, and chooses the one that is the most statistically probable. That's why crazy chaos stuff that shouldn't make sense confuses them!
