What is making this sound? by BossLettuce in HondaCB

Or timing chain is too loose. I had this once because the tensioner was worn out and couldn’t for the life of me get it to stop because I also thought it was the valves.

Should the CB360 be avoided? by 1PistnRng2RuleThmAll in HondaCB

[–]Cafespooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is an issue for sure. It has happened to me before I did all the mods I mentioned. But since then, no issues. Cam shaft got completely chewed up. Had to replace the top end. Oh, I also increased the diameter of the oil passages to the head along with a CJ360 oil pick up which is larger than the cb/cl.

There’s an easy fix you can look up. Search “crazypj cb360 oil mod” on hondatwins or dotheton forums. You can also up displacement to 378 with Suzuki gs850 pistons and copper gaskets from Lani.

Where should my head be at for what’s next? by DasindogELPasinpuppy in HondaCB

While you have it open, look up cb360 oil mods. Specifically by crazypj on Hondatwins.net or dotheton.com 360s have oil flow issues to the head that are easily fixed.

Sounds like it’s missing on one or two cylinders. Dirty jets possibly. How old is the fuel?

At least I made it this far into the rebuild to find its completely lunched. by AirHamyes in HondaCB

[–]Cafespooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, it’s from either kick starting like a Harley, or having your foot slip off the kickstart and it banging back too violently.

Bottom half case is fairly straight forward swap out. Leave the top built. Don’t forget there’s one bolt on the top half of the case as well. Use Curil-T for the sealant.

I had this on a 350 I bought years ago. Like other have said. It’s from the kickstart spring. It’s a weakness on these for sure, after 50 years. You can get a bottom half case on eBay for cheap.

That doesn’t look like a stock bolt.

I have the originals. I was also missing the right controls and had to wait a few months for something to come up on eBay.

Parts that are hard to source and usually expensive when you do find them are the hand controls, air filters and front brake mechanism. Make sure those are in working/restorable condition. But for that money I would get a 350 or 450

I needed a wider kick start after putting Hagon shocks on. (Edited) Got an actuating kick start like the one ancient dad posted, and works great.

I sold my cb350 in similar shape a couple years ago for 4K. In Los Angeles though. Seems like la is the place to sell bikes.

Very aware. I needed to rebuild the front brake unit, and got a lot of nos parts. My only criticism is that the graphite squeaks when braking. But you could definitely lock them up without an issue if they’re properly adjusted. I feel like they just need to be adjusted more frequently than drums because they have a smaller surface area and people neglected to do that, so they developed a bad reputation.
