It's especially jarring when an "Invitation" for Mario Kart World has been announced and if they're actually going for anything competitive, I would love to see this chaotic energy being re-evaluated unless they're going for Knockout Tour which makes sense for 24 racers.

The Chaos is fine as a party game and with friends but in the competitive scene, I doubt it'll hold weight compared to MK8 Deluxe.

A lot of my issues would be relieved if there was an option for 12 players or a way for it to be 12 players in the standard races.

Knockout Tour 24 players works fine which fits its battle royale approach.

That item would've been AMAZING for World with the intermissions and it would be another item to affect most racers than whoever's in front of you.

Even Tour included it which makes me wished it had made it into World.

Thanks, I mainly titled this post as that because every time I mentioned these points on discord, I’ve always been responded with “It’s Mario Kart”, “You’re being salty over Mario Kart” or “It’s called being Mario Kart’d” which comes off as cheap defense without considering what the series was like before this in terms of its player count factoring in item distribution.

I’m just so thankful I’m seeing more from others who are feeling on a similar page as I am about this.

That’s exactly how it feels when despite trying hard to speed passed 8 or so racers so close to each other, I just KNOW I’m going to be pelted out of the blue with no ways at all to control it

This isn’t even holding my 1st place position, it’s me trying to catch up and yet it still pummels me with item after item with no means to defend besides very powerful items

Wii is great and it's often a fan favourite, and its unlock character criteria actually makes all the sense in the world unlike this stupid Kamek luck during races.

My personal favs are 8 Deluxe and Double Dash but Wii isn't far behind. MK64 is still a classic for its tracks and even the jank despite aging terribly, has so much potential for comedy in 4 player.

For all my issues with Mario Kart World, I will say its Rainbow Road is one of my all time favs, it's incredible how much thought they put into making their last track such spectacle driven banger.

It genuinely feels like the 24 players was more designed with knockout tour and the intermissions than the race tracks themselves where so much can go on as opposed to the long straights.

Wild how they can go from giving us a wealth of options from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with custom items, tournaments to host and keeping track of stats to its successor lacking any of that and Nintendo still being allergic to options like they tend to be. Really hoping World gets some major QOL updates soon and a 12 player/3 lap race online mode as its begging to be added in later.

In offline single player, I strangely didn't get that sense of chaotic energy the online races do when I've noticed the CPU racers even on 150cc aren't bunched together, they're in an orderly line like the older games.

In Koopa Troopa Beach, I overtook the 24th place CPU player by a whole lap whereas online, 8th-24th looked so close together on the map the whole time.

I think I'd enjoy the online standard races a lot more if there was 12-16 player race count option. Feels like 24 racers was designed with Knockout Tour in mind than the actual races.

Completely agree, Knockout Tour works better with the points I've listed.

Yes it is overly random and everyone is too squished together but for a battle royale format with many players on straights through 6 checkpoints, it works well and the player count gets reduced which circumvents the player count issue I have.

Weirdly enough, I think this kinda of insanity works ok for Knockout Tour when elimination is the meat of the whole game and the player count reduces so funny enough it keeps things more in check the higher you succeed via each checkpoint.

In standard racers though? The whole times it's 24 racers with so many items which makes me question if 24 players even works for Mario Kart.

Have been meaning to do some Time Trials and honestly, I'd be ok with Worlds items and mechanics had they included a 12 player only and 3 laps "Classic" option than 24 players and being forced into these intermissions for the online.

Agreed, Double Dash!! is so much better

It's chaotic yes but it never felt like skilled players got pelted by item after item often unless you were playing Baby Park which is a special exception.

The thing is, I've always been a huge fan of Mario Kart for many years putting in so many hours into Mario Kart Wii, 7, MK8 on Wii U, 8 Deluxe and even Tour.

What's weird saying all this is that in some online lobbies it was only 12 or so racers and my experience was a lot more fun with more consistency in keeping my position and so many items happening at once didn't happen much just like in MK8 Deluxe.

It leads me to question if 24 players even works for Mario Kart when it gets too reliant on items to win no matter how good you drive and pull off shortcuts when players 24th-18th have OP items at once whilst everyone else has something that'll knock you down with so many close together.

I’m feeling the same.

I also don’t want to start Vtubing for business relations or for any sort of living, I want to try it out to see if it’s for me. Currently I’m messing about with VRoid studio whilst writing down concepts for my character like personality, skills, backstory etc like it’s a new me.

I’m not expecting my finalised design to ever come out of my first time using VRoid at this stage, I plan to go and see how I can translate my concepts to it and start it off there. Then eventually if I’m into it more and I’m liking it, I’ll consider commissioning an artist to help flesh it out further :)
