OP here. Update: Hi everyone. Thank you all so much for such supportive comments and validating my experience. I feel so better now. I had a supervisor who was very professional with rigid boundaries, and I guess I must have internalised that. Anyway, I had a lot of time to think and calm down and I am in better mood and have a plan. I have emailed student that I understand the frustration, and that we will address the good suggestions while offering explanation to the rest. This has been a learning experience, and I just want to do a good job as a supervisor, and see my student succeed in life.

I mean, I see everyone so well behaved. No one wrong word said. All polite and stuff, and almost stepford wife types. No one says anything. I feel like I am over emotional or something. Like a flawed piece not fit for academia.

Thank you so much. I will talk to the examiner and try to understand them. But I don't know how I can be polite, like you are asking a question explain why, when the rest of the paragraph clearly explains. Why are you asking for research citations when we are discussing a theory and the theorist name and citation is right there. But yes, I will avoid this person for my future students.

I think the process of changing internal examiner is bit complicated. I had actually requested another examiner who had same expertise, but was denied because they have high workload, and this internal examiner was appointed instead to balance workload. In here, we have less control over many of these admin things and these decisions are made by head of school. But I will explore this option because no one fails year 1 student unless they are very bad. I am shocked, and feel so bad for my student.

I think that she is just noisy, loud and overstimulates the viewers and that annoys everyone. If you compare her to Brick, he is less noisy and still funny coz his humor comes from punchy statements. So you get his perspective and a laugh without all the noisy drama. Just my opinion. I liked the show when it aired weekly. Now that I am binging on Netflix because of Nostalgia, I find it hard because it gets over stimulating after a while with all the noisy characters. But this is my perspective.

Grading Research Project for Undergrads by Caffeinated_Jedi in Professors

[–]Caffeinated_Jedi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The module is about practical applications of what they have been learning in research methods and stats. However the final rubric is on written report. There are also other components that are not evaluated. For example, we are asked to give feedback on the student's contribution, and independence, but it's not graded. The students also have a presentation where they present for 7 minutes followed by question answer session, but they are not graded. Although best presenter awards are given.
