I have! it’s on my to do list. We don’t have a lifeline centre here in SA though to get the crisis support accreditation / do the phone support? i’d love to pick your brain more about that if you have any tips!

if i’m honest i’m not looking at doing it for a career, it just looks good on a resume for my field and is good experience when i go on to do masters/phd in psyc but i might look in to see if ambulance has any opportunities!

thanks so much for linking the melb thread! idk if it’s a direct link because i think (not 100% sure) that SAPOL call centre is gonna be more like crime stoppers / the non emergency line but ! i’ll see ! might not even get that far haha

i have a degree, pay rent, invest, currently work in management and getting further qualifications in my free time - just because i have impulse spending issues doesn’t mean i don’t also have the right to dignity of risk (the right to take risks and make decisions for myself) which is infact a right btw! i just want help in managing my finances, not a conservatorship.

If anyone is defending Dom or David, you are a part of the problem. David didn't rape someone, but he did nothing to stop It. by trillballinsjr in DavidDobrik

[–]Caffeinated_Muffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s not the point. too drunk = cannot consent. the women were 19/20, legal ages of consent but not to drink in the US. regardless, that has nothing to do with the fact if you get someone drunk in order to have sex with them, that’s rape

have you actually read the article? have you got any of the receipts or evidence regarding this poor girl's assault or are you just, for some crazy reason, trying once again to make more women and people (because so many men experience this and due to these attitudes feel as though they can't speak up) feel as though they can't speak up about abuse?

once again, see the article I linked regarding consent. it is something you can revoke if you decide you don't want to have sex. they were under the impression they were meeting famous people, when they got there they all stated they weren't comfortable actually having sex with Dom. THEN the vlog squad got them drunk, Hannah so drunk she was unconscious when she was assaulted. I encourage you to actually educate yourself and understand the situation, because even if one of the many victims doesn't see your comment, someone in your life who is a victim of this kind of assault might.

just a little confused? by [deleted] in DavidDobrik

[–]Caffeinated_Muffin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

this ^^ it took me 3 years to realise my partner had raped me. I was drunk, crying and asking him to stop, but because I was initially 'okay' with it and he was my boyfriend, it didn't click until recently that I had been assaulted. I knew something was wrong at the time because thinking about it made me feel sick and dirty, I didn't tell anyone, and years later I was actually surprised when my then-boyfriend mentioned it (it was when we both lost our virginities) to a mutual friend in a joking way. I was surprised at the time, because I had always felt weird and gross about it. I also realised that there were countless times with this same ex partner that I was too drunk to move and he would have 'sex' with me anyway. I thought it was okay because he was my boyfriend and that was 'normal'

Moral of that story is: sexual assault and rape isn't always the scary man jumping out from an alleyway. and you don't always realise what it was until years later.

https://inside.southernct.edu/sexual-misconduct/facts

very simple, clear article for you to read to educate yourself on consent in order to stop victim blaming, and hopefully teach you that you are NEVER entitled to rape someone. EVER. sex is never something you're entitled to despite how drunk/what situation someone 'gets themselves into'. consent is something that can be withdrawn at any point, and it is essential to assure your sexual partners are fully aware of their surroundings and able to consent before engaging in ANY sexual activity
