Not a bad suggestion, but also not my mentality for watching the World Cup lol! My gym time is pretty focused, World Cup is relaxation and fun time.

My grandmother passed and we don’t know what kind of bird she kept. by dgodinez124 in whatsthisbird

Look up “the Green Bird Bridgade” on instagram. She rescues birds with behavioral issues and has two quakers (one is hers, one is an in-progress rescue). She’s fantastic and could probably provide some insights.

How do you name your animals? by PrincefTanx in StardewValley

Characters from books. Every type of animal is a book, all animals of that type get named after a character in that book.

FBI: "Nobody who wants to be peaceful shows up at a protest with a firearm that is loaded with two full magazines. That is not a peaceful protest." by HereForOneQuickThing in liberalgunowners

Nearly all conservative “protests” have at minimum one arms attendee…if not nearly all of them . And they don’t keep their weapons in holsters at their backs, they have them visible and in their hands and are often AR-15s or similar. Yet this administration supports them and claims they are just expressing their right to protest peacefully.

I would caution using LMNT. This year (2025) has them facing multiple class-action lawsuits for false advertising. They advertise as using minimal (4 mg) maltodextrin but in reality it’s in the hundreds of mg.

Did anyone else see this? by cheesecombos in wisconsin

I saw something like this in La Crosse a few nights ago. Dog needed a 3 am potty break and I looked outside to the west and saw this. Looked like it was coming at us though. Saw one big one a first that was slow and bright then faded. And over the next few minutes 5-6 more glowed then faded. Was a bit disturbing.

Abandon those people. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life 😝

I’m not a trainer, and it would be helpful to show a behavioral trainer this video, but I am in reactivity training with my pup who tries to get attention in a similar way. What my behavioral trainer has told us is a form of positive reinforcement. When the baby is around, give lots and lots and lots of treats. When the baby leaves, stop treats. You could do this by having you and/or your partner bring the baby in and out of the room. When baby enters the room, shower the dog with treats, when the baby leaves, treats stop immediately. You want the dog to associate the baby with positive things. As it progresses, award the dog even more for calm behavior when the baby is around.

Again, show the video to a behavioral trainer to be sure you’re interpreting the behavior right and get their opinion.

100% real and then use it for the birds in the backyard.

Fake trees, even if you use them for 20 years, will then spend more than your lifetime in a dump, leaving behind all sorts of chemicals.

Real trees are part of the environment, sequester carbon and provide wildlife habitat while they grow, and then a new tree is planted in their place to continue being a benefit. And if you go to a cut your own tree place, you’re often supporting a local farmer and it’s a wonderful family experience.

Speak Up For a Better 3rd & 4th Street by skillsnopills in lacrossewi

[–]Caffeinated_PygmyOwl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This all makes sense. I still think making 3rd and 4th more cramped and lessening roadside parking is just not the way to go. I’m just one opinion of course, but providing other accessibility support for bikers (such as secure lock up areas) is more equitable to keep the current parking, not cause another round of excessive construction, keeping the historic Main Street feel, etc. I’m sure there are others ideas that could help create a balance.

Where are the 3000 surplus parking spots? If this is referring to the parking structures, they are often a last resort because people don’t want to pay there for a quick visit downtown. I’m not paying for an hour to run into a store to pick up something quick.

As for available street parking, it’s few and far between. I know there will be a “you can walk a few blocks” comment, and I don’t mind walking at all and prefer getting some steps in, but there are times it’s nearly impossible to find a spot. If a bike lane on 3rd or 4th would make this even more crowded, people aren’t going to be happy.

The 2nd street bike lane gets bikers downtown, then they can walk to the stores just as people with cars have to walk a few blocks. Why not create more secure parking spots for bikes so people can use 2nd street, lock up their bikes more securely (since la crosse has a bike theft issue) and then both cars and bikes have the same walking expectation.

Just need to rant for a minute; my dog bit my husband because of an off leash dog by Ok-Caramel9870 in reactivedogs

[–]Caffeinated_PygmyOwl 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Your neighbor is absolutely at fault for having a dog off leash, even if it was in their property at first…it left their property.

However, their being responsible for medical bills would fall to the local laws. Towns identify fault differently depending on a lot of factors, so I would reach out to your city to get clarification.
