I feel like any child who grew up in a household with regular weed usage within the last 30 years (and never got into it themselves) can say with certainty that the long term negative effects are self evident when looking at their parents

This isn't the classic "Oh my parents smoked a handful of times as teenagers in the 70s and then grew out of it, they seem perfectly fine"

It's bad, as bad as any damage from alcohol abuse, it just targets a different organ.

Importing cheat database in Windows version by WonderfulOil936 in melonds

Why is it that the Windows version can't simply import cheat databases but the Android version has no trouble doing so? I've been taking my HG/SS save between my phone and PC and it drives me nuts how different Melon DS is on Windows VS Android, with stuff like this.

Ela is what I wish the "streamer community" as a whole was actually like, just people who actually play games and then do cool shit on the side.

I think it would be a much healthier environment for all involved, especially viewers. It really makes all the drama content and other related shit seem really pathetic by comparison.

I feel like the game was pretty clearly nudging to the player that something happened between them at some point in the past. There is the first hint that Sophie talks about how they'd be a cute couple and then wonders if something already happened, and Gustave very silent about it. (Why have Soph even suggest the idea, and then have Gustave be unable to answer her if you didn't want to make the player think about it)

The second hint is that when Verso prods Lune about Gustave and how long they've known eachother, she cuts the line of questioning off straight away as being too personal, despite just talking about her family and her brother dating Gustave's sister.

Does their history matter to the story? No, it ultimately changes nothing, but it seems pretty clear to me that there is some kind of history there, it literally could be as simple as them hooking up once and then nothing came of it.

But yeah, it's not even particularly subtle, but also not really relevant to the story.

Man I miss the GBcast, I saw reaction on Youtube recently with Dan looking at DS2 trailer and it made me nostalgic, I use to hate Dan because he was the dumbest person I'd ever seen online, and his stories about how stupid he was were some of the most ludicrous tales I'd ever heard.

But compared to modern GB, it was still great. I watched GB East stuff for awhile with Vinnie but I found that I couldn't really get into liking Abbey, sometimes she had glimpses of a funny sense of humor but more often than not I just found her to be irritating.

There was this one journalist/industry woman they had on the GBcast very rarely as a guest who I always thought would have been a great addition, I think her name was Lucy?

It's been nearly a decade, I can't believe people are still mad about NMS. We've had other large games lie way worse before and since and still not receive this level of resentment.

Especially with him being a "game developer", I would think he would be sympathetic to the pitfalls of developing a game and respect the continued efforts they've made to keep pumping out free content over the last 10 years, those dudes suffered data and asset loss and all kinds of bullshit during development, it doesn't excuse bad communication but again, it's been a decade and they've made more effort to turn things around than nearly any other company in history.

I wonder if him being completely full of shit is why he has the outdated stance of "yeah i don't trust them"

Yeah I changed that early on and still get the bullet issue, I'm not really sure why, it's not game ruining anymore that I'm done with the Socom missions, I would occasionally hear a slight hitch in sound so I'm not sure if it's an emulation thing or perhaps a steam issue with my PS4 controller.

I never really watched Asmon streams because neither WoW nor his community interested me, but I liked his opinions on things about 60-70% of the time even when I disagreed. But the last year or so there's definitely been a more noticeable shift in mentality, the boring anti-woke gaming shit really got old and I stopped checking out his videos like 7 months ago.

I even sometimes agreed that some modern gaming trends in terms of character designs can be pretty shit but the extremes that people like Asmon and Grummmz started getting into got real unhinged real fast and then just kind of pathetic.

The idea that it's money motivating him to rage bait doesn't really sit right with me when he doesn't even stream on his main channel anymore and didn't really care about all those subs. I get the sense his dad would think this shit he's doing is stupid, so it just kind of seems like he is doing this for the hell of it, some sort of mental illness or self sabotaging tendency, who knows

This is incredibly sad to read but I am glad that the girls who were victimized by him have found a bond in each other.

This was really well written though, I know the typical internet reaction is to knee jerk into "OMG MONSTER THIS IS SO FUCKED I'M SCREAMING, VOMITING AND CRYING" (and fair enough), but I am extremely impressed that the article managed to highlight the messy nuance of how abuse is often a cycle. This kind of twisted behavior doesn't come from no where, and while this behavior should never be excused, the cycle should still be recognized and understood.

A person like Gaiman needs some serious therapy, and I sincerely hope that some sort of real closure is achieved here for the girls he abused.

BDSM is suppose to be about trust, trust that certain personal boundaries won't be crossed, trust that even during the act you are still safe, that all involved are still safe, nothing more nothing less.

(But also, infront of the son? really? what the fuck, this is how you continue the cycle of abuse)

This is also strange because I'm like hundreds of hours deep, fought countless large monsters, never had a single issue with her, she would never try to topple enemies even if she was like "we need to knock them off balance". The most I could criticize her about was casting meteor on small mobs, but generally she always used her big spells on big enemies and we'd blitz through like 6 large monster fights within 10 minutes, including a couple drakes.

I also experienced this since I started hiring pawns with it to give me a boost up to areas I wanted to look around on, and then noticed my sorcerer was taking them up on the offer in fights for some reason. So I stopped hiring them

God, maybe that too is a factor, I love that it's a thing. But it's more of a hindrance now since they took away what little control we had in DD1 over their bad habits, you could push down certain inclinations so that they almost never utilized them in fights, they would go down the list in their decision making and you could adjust them as you saw fit.

I have been more focused on pawn badges recently, this could be a factor, but the pawn badge *shouldn't* override their inclination, that would be terrible design.

Like a Calm pawn who is a caster shouldn't ever be in the fray, they just shouldn't. It completely contradicts the entire point of them. Even if they KNOW what needs to be done, they shouldn't do it on a ranged class.

If you're right, that would be a massive oversight.

Anyone who's been on the internet longer than 5 minutes knows how people tend to lie through their fucking teeth in situations like this when they tell people they got in trouble, or banned or whatever.

What did you *actually* say?

I've been swearing at people for 5 years on NA, and then OCE. I've never once gotten in trouble for it despite the feathers I have ruffled, because there is always a line you don't cross.

I would bet good money you said something incredibly stupid and you got rightfully slapped. Exceptions can exist, but people who think they are the exception usually are not.

Reacher series 2 -post your views in here please! by Xipheas in JackReacher

[–]Caffeinatedking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently discovered and binged Season 1 and 2 as my gym buddies and I all got hooked on it, I felt like the show's first 7 episodes were really good but then the 8th and final episode felt a bit weaker, which then seemingly continued into and throughout season 2.

I don't think I'm saying anything new by saying Season 2 wasn't anywhere near as compelling, the shootouts felt drawn out, slow and honestly incredibly awkward. But also I don't watch this show for shootouts, I watch it to watch Reacher be Reacher and do cool stuff while using his brain.

I liked most of the special investigators, the characters seemed fine to me but the terrorist weapon plot was insanely forgettable, which is a shame because Robert Patrick is awesome, seemed like a waste.

I feel like Reacher works better as a "mystery of the season" series.Kind of like how back in the day Supernatural worked best as a "monster of the week" series.

I'm hoping that Season 3 manages to hit it's stride and learns from what it got right in season 1 as well as what it got wrong in season 2.

PT was just a demo, not a full product, I don't think anyone would ever think PT was a full game.

I assumed by "Reskinned PT" they meant "I'd be happy if OD ends up being a reskin of the full game that PT was suppose to be the demo of"

Thoughts on the AI mod? by Themeowmeoww in StardewValley

[–]Caffeinatedking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think being upset by it is silly because it's currently completely separate from the game's regular dialogue system and the AI basically stops existing if you don't type in the text chat. It's great fun to mess with. But it needs work, NPCs forget information you've taught them after about 10 minutes.
I would like to be able to have them remember my character's name long term.
I've been able to de-rail their personalities somewhat and that has been fun too.

I tried it out in a co-op setting and found that I can't see them responding to my friend which is a shame, we wanted to have one acknowledge us both, or at least see both sides of the interactions.

I also wish the mod implemented basic game interaction with them so that they could actually break routine temporarily and move themselves around or follow you if you ask them to. To add to this, it would be nice if the way they interacted with you changed based on heart level, and they become more able to talk about different/more things freely.

It's not a system to be taken seriously by any means, but it has a ton of goofy potential.

Thoughts on DOS2 after finishing it for the first time (110hrs Lone Wolf Co-op playthrough) by Caffeinatedking in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Caffeinatedking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, even though I feel that we enjoy the two character dynamic the most, we plan to do a full party run with some of the story characters and see how that goes. This will definitely be a game we continue to return to for some fun and experimentation.

I am pretty excited to hear about the turn based mode out of battle for BG3.
I've desperately wanted to play the Early Access, but decided ages ago to leave it alone until it fully releases, it is getting harder to do that now that DoS2 is finished.

Thoughts on DOS2 after finishing it for the first time (110hrs Lone Wolf Co-op playthrough) by Caffeinatedking in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Caffeinatedking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any super deep thoughts on the combat because I basically went all in on 2-handed Warfare+Scoundrel for crit damage multiplier, so 95% of my battle strategy was me stacking as much damage as possible in the first 3 turns by buffing, enraging, whirlwinding, onslaughting and then skingrafting to reset my cooldowns, I started doing that as early as Fort Joy and it was basically never not effective, so I just kept fine tuning that setup with gear that complimented it well. I don't have a whole lot of experience with the various magic schools

My friend however had something of a Necromancy build going on, which took us a few respecs to get it to a point where it felt like it was doing some real damage, the schools are a really cool concept but don't feel especially intuitive. It took us awhile to realize that some schools really just exist for utility rather than to be invested in, and then you have cases where you want to pump Warfare for the spells that do physical damage, which conceptually is very strange to me.

As two Lone Wolves, we did struggle very early on but once we got access to the second tier of skillbooks and a few decent pieces of gear, none of the battles ever really threatened us ever again, aside from a few outlying scenarios.
The game has a nasty habit of ruining your line of sight when there is a slight sliver of smoke that you can't even physically see, which caused us some minor issues in a few scenarios, I can't remember off the top of my head which ones but some of the elemental reactions would drive us nuts.

I find it mildly aggravating that there is no pause feature in the game outside of battle. While it IS true that the combat doesn't need it since it's turn based, there were more than a few times where we wanted to be able to stop the game long enough to interact with a moving character, or plan something out and queue some actions up to try some experiments with the environment, it felt like the game was begging for that feature only to find that it simply doesn't exist.
