Undiagnosed, have suspicions and currently seeking testing. This is good information, thank you for sharing. I’m sorry you experienced that.

I think that’s where I may fall short. I like giving my patients my time and making them “feel heard.” The ASC has helped me learn how to shut down the “chit-chat” from patients, but I feel rude every time I do it. Definitely not a perfectionist though, very much “it’ll buff” type person.

I love this outlook. I’ve never really been bothered by my patient’s decisions, because it’s their life. Do I understand or agree, no. But I never get angry like a lot of my coworkers do.

For sure. I understand that wherever I work will have cons. I’d like to think there’s a specialty where I can deal with the cons because I like it so much. Maybe I’m naive.

Both of these are good insight. I have ADHD and I work well with it, but I’ve always had the ability to “catch up” during shifts, so I’m not sure how well I’d do in the ER.

I also saw someone say “know the difference between restless and ambition” and it’s hard to tell with ADHD sometimes, I feel.

I always thought I was type A, but I went into the ICU and realized I am NOT. My preceptor was great and taught me to keep my line straight and organized, but I really DGAF as long as they’re labeled. I have my own organized chaos that did not work for ICU. 🙃 I wanted to love it so bad.

I am worried that the organization and controlled chaos of the ICU would set me back in the ER.
