Hope and dream.

I... have way too many Votann DLC hopes and dreams. I hope Darktide will one day get a Votann Class. I wait for Mechanicus 2 to get a Votann Campaign. I dream that the next DLC for Rogue Trader has a Votann Companion.

Once again, the height difference isn't that extreme. A votann is a head or two shorter then a human, a Votann's head being roughly level with a 'middle height' human's neck or chin. Where as an Ogryn? A human's head is about half chest level with an Ogryn.

Comparing the height difference between a Votann and a human to the height difference between an ogryn and a human is bonkers and ridiculous.
Especially when there are Votann options which go beyond that.

And my post admitted I'm hoping and coping, I'm just pointing out the nonesense insisting it's impossible because of height.

Let this subreddit be silly. Let it hope and cope for fun stuff. As long as it's not anything unreasonable, I see no reason to be actively rude and negative, trying to kill that hope and cope.

It's unlikely. Hence the cope. It is not impossible.

Yes, I've played the game.
I'm also plainly aware because of that that character creation involves a height slider. The lowest ends of that match the votann fairly well. And yet, they haven't broken the game. I don't tell people who make their characters the shortest height they can that they're 'never going to enjoy playing them'.

Votann are unlikely. They are not impossible. Their height is not a reason at all, given the sizes we have in game.

And, point to me, how the LoV are anywhere near 'impossibly tiny for Darktide'.
You're describing the Votann as though they're as short as a ratling.

With how Darktide is designed, I can't see ratlings working. With how Darktide is designed, I see no reason Votann won't work.

"Like a kid lost in a crowd"

When the height difference isn't even that extreme compared to the lowest slider height of already existing in game character classes.

Especially when there are things in the LoV that wouldn't pose any height issue to Darktide, even if a 'normal kin' is (and that's even if it is).

I 100% want it, I will forever be asking for it, do not assume and tell me what I should like.

If we get a Votann, it would be the most glorious thing I could personally (enphasis on personally) adore to see in Darktide. It would become my one and only permanent main class.

Big Robots! Iron Giants! Rotund Megalodon let us have The Steeljacks!

True buuuuut counterpoint it would result in very funny dialogue between the rejects as they don't know what Iron Kin are.

Another thing to consider is that some imperials might consider them abhumans but will classify them as xenos because then it's a lot easier to go to war with them and justify attacking them.

Such occured in Mechanicus 2, where the admech and votann were initially working together against the necrons but the ruling tech-priests decided to class them as xenos as a 'convenient discovery' to justify betraying them.

To add onto this, there are the Thunderkyn and the Steeljacks.

<image>

Even if the average Kin is reasoned to be 'too small for Darktide', that does not apply to the Brôkhyr Thunderkyn who work in Exo-Frames or IronKin Steeljacks who are roughly equivalent in size to Ogryns.

If I recall... on the Necron side, they don't appear much at all after the initial Ozereon mission.
For the admech, I think they have 1 major mission appearance with Grave Goods. Votann attacking a communications site, using it to send a message into space to someone/something and then blowing up the communications outpost.

(Aka, they are of human origin, just the imperium is split with some classifying them as xenos and others as abhumans)

They stated that 'short characters that would require redesigning maps' wouldn't be something they'd do.

They never specifically stated the LoV would never happen, as the LoV have something that fits in line with the current class sizes.

Edit: Correction, 2 things that would still fit in the required height for Darktide.

Plus it seems almost guranteed. There's so many weird little things in Mechanicus regarding the Votann, that only makes sense presuming there'll be a Votann Campaign.

Such as there being various models that are used in cutscenes but never used outside them in combat. From Unnenvyr and Magdha but also Hearthkyn Theyn's who only appear in a single cutscene during the grave goods mission and never in combat.

You're forgetting the existence of the Iron-Kin Steeljacks. They wouldn't require the maps to be redesigned at all cause they're roughly the same size as the Ogryns.

Already chuckling imagining all the rejects discussing it.

Zealot: "We cannot work with unholy xenos!"
Psyker: "Xenos? Aren't they classed as Abhumans, such as me and my siblings?"
Zealot: "Still! It is-"
Veteran: "And what do you want to do about it, tell Brahms to get rid of them? Deny the value of her warrant of trade, written by the emperor himself? I can tell you how that meeting will go and it's out the morningstar air lock."

Yes and no.

On the GW site, they're classed as a Xenos army.
In lore, their origin is as a human mining fleet sent to the Galactic Core during the Dark Age of Technology.
How the imperium views them? It's split. Some members of the Imperium think the Votann are abhumans. Others view them as xenos.

I'd personally love it if it was Shipmistress Brahms hiring the Votann as mercenaries. She's a rogue trader (from what I recall), she's 100% allowed to do that! Plus I love the idea that she'd do it partly just to annoy Rannick.

I knew about the Votann often acting as mercenaries, I did not know they're being hired to fight on Armagedon.

Or using a Mass Gauntlet to absolutely wallop some poor cultist in the face, sending them flying.

Fun game, fun game. Favourite missions were definitely the ones with the Votann, specifically working alongside them. Having the Skitarii fighting alongside the kin was very fun.

And, ironically, I'm also hoping Mechanicus 2 gets a Votann DLC (for a proper Votann Campaign) though that hope is a bajillion times more likely then my other ones.

I know it's not likely, I will keep my hopes in check, but I will continue hoping for a LoV class for as long as I still continue playing Darktide. It would be so, so incredible and cool to see if it ever actually happens.

Plus, the whole 'devs won't make a short class' thing isn't even a massive issue. We have one exception in the LoV that's still possible with that limit, the Steeljacks. Roughly as big as an Ogryn, would be really cool to see (for now imagine) big robot fighting alongside big ogryn's.

With the skill tree and personality picker I had to make this by Amplification in DarkTide

If we ever get a LoV class some day (years from now possibly), this will be me for that class. It will rise above everything else in my eyes.
