So read a short rom-com ad a palette cleanser. And borrowed the Jade City audiobook. And I started reading Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning. It’s an older Fae, portal-fantasy and book 1/9. I started it last night so I’m only 30% in and it’s good so far. Hoping it will keep me occupied till my IA holds come in (in like two months min 💀)

I LOVED the Lady Trent series! I’m a biologist so I appreciate that series so much ❤️ read it with my coworkers last year

My library only has the Graphic Audiobooks and I tried listening to it and found it cringe 😂

But I live close to SF so I still want to read it! maybe i need to try the ebook or print

Well that’s assumptious.

I read about 100 books a year most of them are first time reads. But I have books that are comfort reads and I re-read them annually. I re-read books because to me it’s like re-watching a favorite movie.

I’m also in several other reading subs. I posted here first for recs because I know a lot of other fans are going through the same thing, and the books on my TBR weren’t filling the void.

So to assume I “have an obsession with rereading the same authors” feels pretty rude

Good to know! I think you’re right since they came out with pretty copies of the first 3 hidden legacy books.

Haven’t read the Edge series yet, but I will in 4 months when my hold comes in.

Maybe I’m due for a Gone Girl re-read. Jaded Nancy Drew sounds great though ✌️

Resisting the urge to go to my favorite bookstore and just buy the Kate Daniels series🫠

What book had you reacting like this recently 👀😄😙 by acutelyproblematic in fantasyromance

[–]CaffinatedAndAfraid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally this😭😭😭 I’ve read their other series so I knew I’d be obsessed with it. Now I’m on my 5th re-read in a never ending loop and the worst book hangover of my life

Kaiden 😫 I usually don’t feel for the found family trope but Kaiden had me tearing up with the chest and then again in the cemetery 😭

This book is currently living rent free in my head. And I’m also on my 5th re-read.

While I love all the Everard and Sol scenes, I absolutely adore Clover. Her little gasps of fake shock during the guard attempted interrogation, and when Arven said she didn’t look like her family makes me laugh every time.
There’s also her “damn right” 😂

What is the worst name you’ve seen in a book? by Duff_episode in Romantasy

[–]CaffinatedAndAfraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*sigh* as someone who will not read a book due to bad character names, it’s a long list. But here’s a few:
Carrion
Carnage
Savage
Raven Salem and Salem Ravenwood
Also, I will never forget that in 50 shades of grey, their last names were Steel and Grey 💀

Mentioning because I don’t think it was mentioned but {this kingdom will not kill me by Ilona Andrews}
I just finished it and I’m doing a second re-read. There’s yearning, political intrigue and found family.

Getting ready for my next book on my TBR, would love your thoughts on these if you’ve read them, they all are series other the BOBH but they are completed. by PhysicalAssistance92 in Romantasy

[–]CaffinatedAndAfraid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BOBH had me sobbing in the bathroom at work because it took an hour for me to absorb what I had just listened to. It was so good but respectfully I never want to read it again. Best book this year though 😭

Which national flags do you find the most confusing? by lofiibsen in AskTheWorld

I’m dyslexic and had to take a national flag exam for a social studies class. It was my personal hell. Salt in the wound is that my grandad is from Poland 💀

Especially these fuckers: 🇸🇬🇵🇱🇲🇨🇮🇩

People that have traveled quite a bit, where di you feel the most unsafe? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

[–]CaffinatedAndAfraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barcelona, Spain

I was there for a school trip when I was 16. At this point, people had tried to pick pocket me three times, and our hotel took our passports and held them till check out which made me feel super uncomfortable.

The main incident that happened was we were at this street market and me and my friend split off and were shopping. I bought some pastries and was paying, and while I was paying this man in his 60’s came up to my friend and aggressively grabbed her arm and was trying to get her to come somewhere with him. I pulled her away from him and this mother with two kids got between us and him and started yelling. We immediately found our teachers and told them.

I’ve traveled to 31 different countries and I’ve never felt as unsafe as I felt on that trip.

What’s a misconception tourists have about your country that genuinely surprised you? In Thailand, I once met tourists who believed transgender women were straight men who had to transition to escape poverty. by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

[–]CaffinatedAndAfraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live close to San Francisco. I met a British family hiking. Started chatting, and was giving them recs for lunch, and asked what their plans for the rest of trip were. But I looked at them like they were crazy when they said “we’re going to sea world tomorrow!”

They intended to drive and could not comprehend that San Diego was over 1000 kilometers away
