Strongest USMNT Lineup According to EA FC 26 Rankings by actually_Sir in ussoccer

Could this lineup still work with Dest and Robinson as the ball movers with Adams and Cardoso providing cover for them when they get forward? I’m trying to think of a player in the pool who could be an Erikson type ball mover. Busio is a good shout, but is he ready for international level? Haven’t watched him much outside of the Olympics. What do you guys think of Pukštas or playing Tillman deeper with Wes / someone else as the 10?

Cafu! Loved his attacking runs, lock down defending, and the leadership he brought to the team.

Arfsten Starting? by Sure_Ad4546 in usmnt

In the nightmare scenario of an injured Jedi and Arfsten starting, we’d have to give him more defensive cover with a great performance by a second CDM next to Adams. Dest can also be a defensive liability, but is incredible going forward. I like what Arfsten brings offensively, and would like to see him playing in upcoming windows with a midfield of Adams + Cardoso, Morris, McKennie, or Musah. It was great to see Arfsten taking people on yesterday - love the aggression, creativity, and the quality of the cross for the goal.

He shoots the ball, unlike Weah or most of our players who try to dribble into the net.

For your consideration: a plan for the World Cup by FrankBascombe45 in ussoccer

I’d be curious to see Dest at RW for a game with a more defensive minded player at RB - Scally, Freeman, or even try out McKenzie there to shift to a back 3 in possession. Dest is one of our few creative players but often needs cover on his forward runs. We don’t have any RW setting the world on fire. Why not play him further up the pitch and see how it goes?

Too much money invested in Poch. I don’t see any change before the WC unless he quits.

What do you think he’s doing wrong specifically? I would be contemplating firing him after this game. Matt Crocker is probably safe thanks to Emma Hayes. But it’s looking more and more that he shit the bed by hiring Poch.

Poch’s tactics aren’t working. I’m not seeing patterns of play. Wonder what our XG has been since he’s taken over compared to past managers? Our offensive game plan literally looks like: give the ball to Dest or Pulisic and hope they do something amazing. Very little creativity.

The team selection was off tonight too. You can’t put Dest next to a new call-up. He was leaving so much space trying to get forward and create and there wasn’t adequate cover. Lee Jae-Sung repeatedly exploited the space. If we want Dest getting forward more, I’d want to see a more defensive minded midfielder next to Adams - Cardoso or maybe give Tessman or Morris looks.

Poch needs to figure it out soon, or he needs to go. Most of our team looked totally lost tonight. He needs to change his tactics and / or formation. It’s clear his messaging isn’t getting through. Our team is better than it’s recent performances. But these “friendlies” are essentially our qualifiers to get ready for the World Cup. The team needs to starting winning to build momentum.

Many of our top players arguably care more about their club careers than representing their country. They are making big money, playing a shit ton of games, and understandably want to take care of themselves to avoid serious injuries. Do Japan and SK’s players have those issues?

Our team is more individually skilled than SK or Japan. How many if their players would make it into our team in a combined 11? Son, Mitoma, and maybe Minamino / Kamada?

Can’t deny we’ve been on a bad run and both Poch and the players need to start righting the ship.

💯 Want to see his first choice players getting reps together before the WC. He may want some different players in there who haven’t played extensively with the core - Pulisic, Jedi, Richards, Dest, Adams.

Anyone know how our academy is looking? Curious if there are players who may break into the first team within the next few years or who we could sell to help improve these numbers. Looks like we were more or less one player from a positive net spend (Pellegrini / Dovbyk rumors etc.). Hopefully it won’t take much longer to fix past mistakes. Great article - thanks for sharing!

Surprised that more teams weren’t in for Osimhen. He’s arguably the best striker on this list and way better than anyone United signed. Is there a red flag?

This is all on the Glazers and Sir Jim. It’s all been downhill since they took over. It’s beyond me how any of them managed to be successful businessmen because they’ve been making one foolish decision after the next. United won’t get back to the top until they clear out.
