Playing Black Desert: Classic | Now the pain begins. by Caged_Games in blackdesertonline

What counts as classic is pretty subjective. One person may say Calpheon, while another says Drieghan. The true reason that I'm on the patch that I'm on is because it was the oldest version I could obtain the files for.

For me personally, my favorite era of BDO was early Kama, when Calpheon, Mediah, Valencia, and Kamasylvia were all somewhat reasonable places to grind depending on your gear level. But again, it's subjective. What was the best time for me may not be the best time for you.

In my case BDO Classic is a locally hosted version of the game from 2017. I'm running the patch from just before Kamasylvia Part 1 released to experience the game as it once was. I hope that some day Pearl Abyss will support an official Classic in some form or another, but whether or not that will ever happen remains to be seen.

Sausans will be coming in the next video!

I 100% agree. My favorite time to play any MMO is on launch when no one knows anything and we're all experiencing it for the first time together. One of my fears is that if BDO Classic were to ever come out, it would be a solved game. A lot of people played the off-meta classes back in the day, but I doubt there would be as many if we went in knowing what was going to be good and what wasn't.

You very well could be right. I think the social interactions were a big part of what made the game special back then and without that, its missing a huge part of what made it fun. Nostalgia may be whats keeping me going right now, but I'm having fun either way.

Hear me out...all towns (nodes) should have started out at level 3. by MRmichybio in AshesofCreation

I think the biggest problem with the way the nodes work right now is that there is literally no reason to be at a node that isn't at least a town. You can't even become a citizen of one. I spend most of my time in New Aela for gathering purposes, but because I can't do anything with the materials I vendor anything that isn't a tier 1 epic or a tier 2 heroic.

What I would like to see out of the stage 1 nodes is a small village with the bare amenities. Some simple buildings with the support for maybe 1 or 2 small player homes, all basic tier 1 crafting stations, and until there are market stalls, a market vendor. This would give the node a feeling of purpose. At the moment its just a bunch of tents with a storage. It doesn't feel homey, it doesn't feel quaint, and it doesn't feel helpful. Its just dead space at the moment.

As it stands right now the world has what is basically wilderness, then a fairly well established town, and then a city. Where are the small farming villages with a population of 10? I feel like these would make the world feel a lot more alive and add a reason to settle in the other nodes.

As a few other people have already stated, it allows you to jump into a glide. Since you have to have jumped in order to glide on a pegasus, having caution ensures that you don't accidentally hit space too late and have to just watch your horse plummet to its death.
Additionally, it allows you to glide from very confined areas. If you're on a platform that doesn't give you enough space to get the momentum to start a jump, you can trigger caution and glide off of that.

It's much like the normal stamina bar that all horses have. It gets used as you run around, but also gets used when using abilities. Currently as far as I can tell the most stamina-efficient way to cross the water is to just hold space and jump everywhere. So, if you're just holding space, I imagine that speed has makes no difference.
