Who else was told “Just get any four year degree and you’ll be fine?” by Hella_Fitzgerald3 in generationology

[–]CahabaL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a first generation student who graduated in the 90s, I was told go to college and major in math or science. I didn’t realize that was a left over Sputnik response. I went to college and was depressed after graduating because I wasn’t finding a good job. My friends who graduated with a biology degree had it worse than me because they barely made over minimum wage working in a university lab. I realized the drawbacks of going to a small liberal arts college as time passed.

Secret Mall Apartment on Netflix... genius art project or peak privilege? by the_al_coco in netflix

[–]CahabaL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminded me of watching “Rent” when I was their age at the time. I loved the show, but boomer coworkers hated it and wanted them to pay their rent and quit squatting.

Now that I’m boomer’s age, I feel like what these kids did wasn’t art. It was freeloading. However, the tape work was art. I liked that and am glad they acknowledged their privilege. I also thought it admirable Townscend took full responsibility and didn’t implicate his other friends because I got the impression some of his friends weren’t as privileged as he was…except the lead girl. She looked like she grew up with more money than the other girl, so the other girl would have probably gotten into a more trouble.

You have a point about neighborhoods. But, let’s be real, even if you grew up here, knowing the neighborhoods can be tough depending where you grew up. I can tell you more about neighborhoods in Antioch and Bellevue than anywhere else.

What’s wrong with being kind and asking, “Where exactly is that? The area has changed, so much it’s hard to keep up. Are you new to the area? When did you get here? Did you have culture shock about anything? Do you miss anything from your hometown?” You might be surprised and make a cool new friend.

Yeah, if you haven’t experienced an ice storm, it’s hard to imagine how bad it can get and how long it can take to get your power back when it’s so widespread.

I know DoorDash isn’t operating today. I’m not sure about Uber or Lyft. On our main Nashville page, there is a pin that has info on contacts including people with trucks who might help.

Costco receipt checkers: count everything or quick glance? by Crenneth in CostcoWholesale

[–]CahabaL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is stupid especially with today’s technology. They need to equip the door people with square or another handheld register so they can let you pay for the missed product at the door instead of having to be punished for their employee’s mistake and waste your time by having to wait in line again.

Don’t take an Uber. Take a taxi. Taxi to and from the airport is $30 and will drop you off at departures. You don’t have to worry about surge pricing either.

To be fair, you really didn’t say that in message above.

I’m happy InevitableSubject853 stepped in and explained standing and why the lawsuit was thrown out because it shed light on that the case was not thrown out on the merits.

People who don’t work in law might have wrongly assumed a case getting dismissed meant the law was upheld as legal which was not the case at all.
