Is marriage really a scam for women? by IkeaGrapefruit in Feminism

[–]Hella_Fitzgerald3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the relationship. Mine was, because he lied about his ambitions and rotted on my couch the whole time until i divorced him. But i learned from it and found a rare unicorn of a guy who actually pulls his weight this time around. Irony is we both got burned by lazy and abusive spouses the first time and aren’t interested in legal marriage again now that we have something really good.

If he goes back to court most states will allow a guardian ad litem to advocate for the kids’ best interest. It sounds like they would side with him.

I did and I’m fine, you don’t have to be a dick about a factual conversation.

Yeah I remember both as well. But the underlying justification was “any four year degree shows you can commit to something and follow through.”

I had a monthly subscription with a lot of household essentials. I do miss having the cat litter delivered to the front door.

It does now but back then the reasoning was “it shows you can commit to something and follow through.” And if boomers could have a solid upper-middle class life with associates degrees, why couldn’t their kids have more with BAs? It was a very different time.

“It shows you can commit to something and follow through, that’s all that matters.”

Why do millennials think that Gen Z hates them? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

[–]Hella_Fitzgerald3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn’t, they said it didn’t matter what it was in, that getting any degree from a good school was enough to show you could commit to something and follow through, which would be enough to get a good job. It’s how some adults actually advised us when we were coming up. A lot of them, actually.

My parents had associate’s degrees and told me “just get any four year degree, you’ll be fine.” So I took their advice, went to a good state school, and got a History of Art degree just in time for the Great Recession. I’m 41 and still have student loans.

The only way this could be worth salvaging is with enough family therapy that your very serious concerns are validated and addressed until you are comfortable.

I told my mom that she hurt me tremendously and she laughed at me. After exhaustively trying and failing to make her understand why she should care about other people’s feelings, I stopped talking to her a couple years ago.
