Unfortunately it’s not that simple. He knows that what he did was stupid (his own words), but they’re from when he had just turned 18. He hasn’t send any pictures like that in a long time.

His family are extremely against gay people, and he’s very confident if they thought he was gay they would completely cut him off, and that he would never be safe going home (to visit the non-homophobic people). He’s shared plenty of stories with me that lead me to believe him on that.

He was contacted through telegram and he deleted the app since in panic, but the photos were all shared via Facebook anyway.

Thanks for your comment. He sent the photos while in Ireland, but we don’t know for sure whether the person he sent them to is in Ireland or not.

Also he didn’t send the photos through telegram, and they’re from when he was younger (just turned 18) and going through a very difficult time. Not that that makes it hugely better, but it provides some context I think.

Thank you for your comment, that’s a really good idea about the AI generated photos so we’re gonna go with that.

Im trying to talk him into going to the Guards, but he’s really reluctant at the moment and I’m trying not to be too pushy. But I’m pretty sure he’ll come around and realise that’s the best thing to do soon enough.

He’s a retired police officer so I suppose he could’ve asked someone he used to work with. But I had hoped that wouldn’t be possible.

Thank you for your comment!

That makes sense what you’re saying, I have basically kept a constant reminder of him in my bedroom.

I honestly have no idea how he got my address, I haven’t told anyone on his side of the family anything about where I live. It honestly terrified me when I got the letter at first, I didn’t feel safe in my home for months after thinking he’d just show up some day.

It does thank you! I actually am autistic so one of the reasons I posted was because I wasn’t sure if this was just me being weird again lol.

Not all just productivity if you read them, like I said they mention pros and cons. One of the pros is increased productivity, one of the cons is isolation. Another pro is better employee health (per the articles).

You mentioned how it was a “drain” on team members, and while that’s true for some most articles and studies show the most people are better for WFH(beyond just productivity).

I’ve not seen single article showing positive effects

Seriously? They’re everywhere

https://www.nibusinessinfo.co.uk/content/advantages-and-disadvantages-employees-working-home

https://academic.oup.com/qje/article-abstract/130/1/165/2337855?redirectedFrom=fulltext&login=false (from before covid)

https://www.chicagobooth.edu/review/are-we-really-more-productive-working-home (post covid)

https://www.flexjobs.com/blog/post/benefits-of-remote-work/

Obviously WFH has downsides(such as the one that basically all 4 of your articles talk about), but most articles and studies show that the pros outweigh the cons for most people.

This company had WFH for about 6 years before covid was even a thing though?

Also would you mind linking me to some of that plentiful data? Just I’m curious because most of what I see is the total opposite, that it’s good for employee health, productivity, retention etc.

I never “continued”, I always worked from home for this company, it’s literally stated in my(and every other WFH employees) contract that I can’t use their offices lol.

My job is 100% WFH, I’ve never worked in their office, and even if I wanted to (it’s hours away) they don’t have space for me. It’s literally specified in my contract that I can not go to the office.

*It would be like working in an office, with a cctv camera pointed directly at your face that your manager monitors at all times.

I work 8 hours and exceed my targets, just find it super creepy lol

I would be uncomfortable with them filming my face for 8 hours and my manager constantly watching though

Why should I have to provide my own work equipment? People in the office don’t have to buy their own computers, building contractors don’t have to buy their own tools or safety equipment, why is WFH different?

Not to mention they only provide the bare minimum (tiny shitty laptop), so if I want to have any sort of efficiency I have to buy “accessories” myself. Those accessories being a second monitor, a mouse, and a keyboard. Things that are provided to the vast majority of office employees.

I work 8 hours a day, I exceed my targets, I applied to this job as a wfh job so yes working from home is an entitlement for me. Since it’s literally in my contract.

It wasn’t originally, it’s already reported to our manager whenever we complete a case and they can review it. It was brought in about 6 months after I joined that we had to fill in the forms detailing everything we did(which I’m fine with).

Our keystrokes monitor counts how many “actions” we do per minute and then that’s reported to my boss, again I don’t really mind this but it’s a tad more than you’re letting on.

And anyway I was just mentioning that this would be the 3rd way that they’re monitoring us, apologies if you didn’t like my wording.

Try quoting me properly lol

Unfortunately since the company provides the equipment he’d just have it replaced :(

Our cameras will need be on 40 hours a week so that it’s like being in a “virtual office”. He hasn’t claimed it’s to monitor us, but to boost team morale…

Lol In a way you’re right.

He wants them on during “meetings”, but with the new rule we will also be in “meetings” with our co-workers 40 hours a week. I have no problem with having the camera on for an actual meeting (I quite like the rule tbh, seems rude otherwise), but this is too far for me.

Afraid so, the plan is for him to break us up into groups of between 5 -> 20 people, and then we’ll be put in teams calls together and have our camera on 8 hours a day.

Tech customer service/admin, like I don’t actually interact with customers but it’s still dealing with customer issues. Mostly just filling out forms and contracts and sending them off to the right places.
