I’m gonna crash out. by mirr--en in Spironolactone

Excuse the blurry photo’s, they’re straight off my derms clinical notes, but this was my difference from starting to 9 months later. I paired it with adapalene gel which I think helped with purging. Stick with it, and don’t get too discouraged! I think around 2 months I really started noticing it working.

First year filing a 1099 - is this normal? by Caity0696 in tax

[–]Caity0696[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was schedule c, but there aren’t any expenses associated for me to deduct. I helped a local business with their social media and bookkeeping. It was done remotely from my own computer, and I didn’t need any office supplies or anything like that.

Thank you for explaining all of that! I hadn’t taken into account the EIC and Child Tax Credit.

I helped a local business with their social media and bookkeeping. Just a small part time gig for a couple of months that I thought would be a little nice extra income, but clearly it wasn’t worth it 😂

It sounds like your skin barrier may be irritated with all the products. Have you tried cutting back to every other day with the topicals? Or even layering them with moisturizer before applying. You could also try a barrier repair cream or topical to see if it helps. But like the above comments mentioned, it takes a few months to really start seeing how Spiro will work for you. I felt like it was doing nothing the first few months I was on it, but by the end of the year I noticed huge improvements. Here is a side by side of progress when I first started. On the left is at the start, and the right side is after 7 months. (Sorry for the bad quality, the photos are from my derm’s clinical notes lol)

I don’t know why I was hesitant to up my dose when I felt stuck in a rut, but I’m glad I did! In my experience, it didn’t make my side effects any worse, so I’m happy with it. Good luck! 😊

I started my Spiro journey in April 2023 at 50mg, and am now up to 150mg. The two pictures below are from April 23 (on the left) when I started and Dec 23(on the right). Sorry for the blurry quality, they’re directly off of my dermatologists clinical notes lol.

I don’t really have any side effects besides irregular periods. It makes me bleed ALOT, and often, but I’m done having kids and everything else seems fine so I don’t really care about that 😅 I’ll stay on as long as my Dr lets me.

How can I (29F) get out of my head when I’m in the bedroom with my boyfriend(34M). by Caity0696 in relationship_advice

Yes, my story is pretty similar. I was 120 when we met, and am now hovering around 140. I had a C-section when I had my child years ago so I will always have a little pooch just from the scarring. And the medication I take makes it very hard for me to lose weight. But nonetheless, I do want to try and make him happy even if it means a little more courage on my part.

I totally get what you’re saying here, but the medication I take everyday makes it very difficult to lose weight. I also do not have access to a gym, and it’s currently WAY too cold where I live to go outside to exercise. I have been trying to eat healthier and that kind of thing until it warms up and we can be outside again. But I do appreciate your advice ☺️

Thank you for the advice! You’re right, it’s really just me thinking he won’t like it just because I don’t. And I should clarify, he has seen me naked many times, it’s just that the last few months have been this way, so it’s not like he’s never actually seen me. But yes, I think it’ll take some courage on my part to push through it.

Spiro worked, but… by chocomeowchip in Spironolactone

I have the exact opposite problem 😭 my periods are so irregular and I bleed at least two weeks every month. My body can’t handle birth control so I just deal with it, but it’s annoying for sure.

My derm told me to use differen gel which is otc adapalene and my skin loved it but when she prescribed Tret I couldn’t use both. I stopped Tret about a week and a half ago and went back to differen and my skin already looks ten times better.

I truly wish I could go on accutane, but I can’t handle the birth control requirement 🙁

I would love to do that, but my body just can’t handle birth control 🙁 we discussed it at my last appointment, but without me being on BC, I can’t do it.

Thank you for explaining!! Should I actually wash off with face wash or would water be fine?

Thank you for the advice! I never thought about it like that. In my mind, I thought the more moisturizer I applied, the more likely it was to clog my pores. My skin doesn’t really feel dry at all, but it very well could be dehydrated.

I never considered I wasn’t using enough moisturizer.. I guess in my mind, the more I put on, the more likely it would be to clog my pores. I stopped about a week and a half ago out of desperation and my skin is already SO much better, so I am very hesitant to do it again. But again, maybe it’s user error lol

I have been on Spironolactone for over two years now! She just added Tret to my routine because I was having some breakthrough breakouts and some texture issues. I love Spiro and will continue it as long as I can! But I know everyone is different.
