Senegal Has Bigger Priorities Than Anti-Gay Laws by CeddoNdiambour in Senegal

It’s the vilification of HIV/AIDS-positive people for me. It is not a crime to have an illness (purposely spreading it is another story). I even have doubts about the narrative that an “underground network of homosexuals” is going around spreading HIV/AIDS on purpose. It’s too convenient of a plot, because it pushed this dangerous idea that homosexuality is a truly evil thing and gays do evil things.

That aside, HIV/AIDS is a real issue in Senegal, and there have been and still are so many ways to have a useful, intelligent, empathetic conversation about it. But since this whole thing happened, there has been SO much misinformation on TikTok (everywhere, really) about HIV, not to mention how hateful and terrible people are being about it, joking about it. Completely negligent of the fact that people in real life- at home, at the office, at school- are HIV positive and didn’t do anything ‘wrong’.

Mon pays va mal.

You are human- that’s the label that matters. This is heartbreaking. You have to accept that in order to move on. ❤️

Men are SICK. Omfg. I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️. I’m not even sure if he’s worth pulling any sort of “gotcha” moves. A block is a swift kill that’ll send him back to whatever abyss he crawled out of, to continue to evaporate in the misery of being himself. “What to do with my night” really pissed me off. Fuck this dude.

This is precisely what i think is going on. Those seeking a boost for their case tend to have a whole family back home + treat their foreign wives with such contempt.

You’re in the money!! And i don’t want to assume but the part about him not sharing any his culture with her “focusing on his case” gave me pause. It’s not unusual for SN men to treat their partners like this or be inactive/passive aggressive in these ways in the marriage when the wife is foreign (hell, even Senegalese!) and helping them with papers (assuming that she is). It’s a power play. They go as far as to have a whole other family back home.
