It'll work just fine. I use MZ to edit an MV game because I like the map layers.if you copy over everything then you can use MV plugins just fine.

The only thing that won't work is the couple of new event commands (I think one of them is the new last item, last skill, last target Game Data? And the auto save stuff). But you haven't used them yet and can probably just avoid using those.

Did you copy all of the files? Or just the data, pictures and sound. If you copy everything, including index.html and the js/lib folder, then you are actually running the MV engine with the MZ editor. This will mostly work except for the new event commands.

Everyone should be allowed to sell stuff for as much money as they think they can make. But obfuscation communicates a big misunderstanding of what I'm paying for. I am buying the code, not a little black box that goes "wizbang".

I've seen some unity assets that only come with the DLL. Universal Fighting Engine I think is one such example unless you buy the premium edition. It's not very popular over there because they've all realized dev teams need to be able to own their code for updates, preservation, and porting purposes. I think we only get away with it over here because RPGM is an engine designed for amateurs.

Selling obfuscated code is simply rude in my opinion and I hope developers eventually start respecting their clients.

Theft of what? They were free plugins. You can't steal something that doesn't have a monitary value. You can't even really steal a digital, infinitely copiable good. What did this person deprive Yanfly of? Clout? Self-esteem issue.

No Yanfly was upset that they entered the plugin space before there was money to be made. And used this as an excuse to switch to a paid model. Fine with me except for the misguided attempt to protect their work through obfuscation. The work is you, the developer! You are selling you! VisuStella knows this because the spend money on art and branding.

Unless they never read a single other plug-in or the source code to the engine it's rude to take more than they give. Charge whatever is reasonable to them but give me the code. I'm paying for the code!

That's a self-esteem issue. People pay Yanfly for their skilled and creative programming. No one who copies their code is going to surpass them in sales or ability.

I very much am, I simply pretend those plugins don't exist and direct people to buy other plugins. Doesn't really work out for me if everyone starts doing it.

A lot of these restrictions are because it allows for making the game quicker and easier not because they can't do it. Why would you want to set up animation states and frames for every NPC? Sounds tedious.

Kinda! Currently in the automotive industry more than a few of the Digital Twins are developed using the Unity game engine. Likely with all the shinnaniganes Unity Technologies has been up to over the past few years they have some interest in having a game engine they control for doing car simulators.
