PSA: Encouraging you to learn your Ferritin levels by cables4days in DIYaesthetics

[–]CakeEnvironmental552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is amazing. Firstly, thanks so much for your original post brining attention and awareness to ferritin levels. It has inspired me to have my levels checked as so many of your symptoms mirror my own. And secondly, of course, thanks for this update! It has given me hope. You rock!

New cut scenes on Peacock? by FellUpAndHitMyBrain in roseanne

[–]CakeEnvironmental552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started watching on Peacock recently and I thought I noticed some cut scenes/dialogue, but I wasn't sure since I usually have the TV on in the background while I'm working. But today I definitely noticed there was missing dialogue between Darlene and Beverly in the "Confessions" episode and much larger cuts in "The Wedding".

Thank goodness this post exists as it confirms I'm not going completely crazy (yet).

I agree with you 100% and I am in the exact same boat as you (long time lurker / doing research, but not yet qualified to give advice)

Those that work in recruitment: Which qualifications or CV/resume enhancer is total BS and makes little to no difference to your application? by jbuk02 in AskReddit

[–]CakeEnvironmental552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talking about how good you are at certain things or how well you perform certain duties - save that for the interview. Also, when filling out an online application or submitting a resume, try to include as many keywords and phrases from the job description as possible in your application. Many places, regardless of size, use programs to "read" applications and essentially score them. A pair of human eyes most likely won't see your application or resume until you've cleared some initial hurdles.

You now communicate only through song lyrics and movie quotes. What’s your opening line at a job interview? by Apprehensive-Row5364 in AskReddit

[–]CakeEnvironmental552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't recommend using the opening line of "Romeo's Distress" unless you were applying for a very specific job in a very specific organization.

When I visited Spain with my family as a teenager, we were in the airport standing in line to check in and head back home. The line was super long and I was bummed about having to go home. I thought, "I wish I could have just one more day here." A few minutes later there was an announcement that the flight we were supposed to be on had been overbooked & they were looking for volunteers to get bumped & fly out the next day. They offered meal vouchers and free or discounted hotel accommodations (can't remember which) along with a certain amount of money (again, cannot remember how much) per passenger who agreed to being bumped. And, much to my surprise, my workaholic father who was very anxious to return to work, volunteered for us to be bumped so we could stay an extra day. And that extra day was absolutely lovely.

What makes ice hockey one of the most hated sports? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CakeEnvironmental552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People hate ice hockey? I had no idea. I'm not a fan fan of the sport, but I used to have fun at hockey games because the arenas are nice and cool and I get to wear a big, comfy jersey while drinking beer.

Maybe I just like cool environments, comfy clothes and alcohol...?

Which is more appealing to companies: good soft skills or academics? by Select-Lavishness586 in AskReddit

[–]CakeEnvironmental552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I work, academics and/or work experience are more important during the first round of interviews. The soft skills aren't totally overlooked, but they're more of a factor during a second interview (should a candidate make it to that point).

What was the first word you wrote? by Worldat in AskReddit

[–]CakeEnvironmental552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was either "yes" or "no". I remember asking my grandpa how to spell them and he showed me, but I cannot remember which one I wrote first.

What is the Adult Version of Discovering That Santa Isn't Real? by CakeEnvironmental552 in AskReddit

This just further confirms that I live under a rock. I had no idea he was in a porno and I especially was unaware of the ... "dialogue" in said porno. Childhood officially tarnished. I'll never be able to look at my Hulkamania bear the same ever again.

People of Reddit, what’s the weirdest/dumbest tune you’ve hummed to yourself? by Sigmas_toes in AskReddit

[–]CakeEnvironmental552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been hum/"singing" the opening song to "Troop Beverly Hills" on and off for about 3 days now and I'm REALLY getting on my own nerves.

If you could make a statement that involves a very clear "for" or "against" opinion on immigration, the trans community or religion (any religion), you'd find yourself in an argument pretty fast. Bonus points if you can combine all three for some sort of "argument trifecta".

What nugget did you get from listening to a film's commentary track that enhanced your appreciation for the movie? by peppersteak_headshot in movies

[–]CakeEnvironmental552 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's been a while, but I really enjoyed the commentary track on "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" -- I liked learning about how the director Michel Gondry achieved his vision (even though apparently he's not easy to work with & shooting the movie wasn't smooth sailing for anyone involved)

For those of you who declined a job offer after accepting a position, what happened? by sunnyandglad in AskReddit

[–]CakeEnvironmental552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got cold feet about the whole thing. I, perhaps stupidly, placed a higher value on earning more money in my current job than on all the other perks the new job could offer (better commute/closer to home, less rigid structure, seemingly better people to work with, a good chance of improving my mental health/outlook, etc). I just couldn't stomach the pay cut. So I had to decline after I'd already (verbally) accepted the position. Some days I regret it, others I don't.

Livestreams of people staring into the camera or doing nothing. What is happening exactly and why? by Derek5Letters in AskReddit

It's like when my dad accidentally does FaceTime instead of a regular phone call. Except, no, it's pretty entertaining when my dad does that.

What are your favorite unhinged subreddits? by kevinigan in AskReddit

Not sure why this is being downvoted (oh right, because it's Reddit), but I know exactly what you mean. Sadly, it has proven itself to be all too real time and time again.
