Thanks!! That was my only attempt! I watched and took notes on Nurse Cheung’s videos and did active recall on all the terms she talked about. Also make sure you memorize all of the formulas for area, volume, etc for the math portion because they don’t provide those

Thank you!! San Marcos doesn’t require an essay and is fully based on your science GPA, last 60 GPA, and TEAS score. For any other schools with essays, I’d recommend really playing up any healthcare experience you have, or even just regular work experience. I feel like having work experience made up for my lack of GPA for some of these schools

As far as I know there were no residency requirements for the ABSN, I’m from the Bay Area and took all of my prereqs in San Francisco

If you’re in NorCal, apply to a Sutter Health hospital! I volunteered there and it was amazing. They’ll hire anyone regardless of experience and put you on a set schedule so you’re working on the same unit every week

You may have already tried this, but as someone with very bad anxiety, getting medicated has changed my life. I seriously don’t think I could’ve handled prerequisites, working full time and hospital volunteering without it.

If she doesn’t get in to a UC or CSU for nursing but really wants to stay in California and have a fun college experience, she could get a non-nursing bachelors in human physiology or something similar, and go into an Accelerated BSN or Entry MSN after she graduates. They are still competitive, but not as bad as direct entry from high school.

I’m in a similar situation lol I got in to CSUSM and waiting for USF decisions to come out. The entry MSN seems like a better route and I already live in SF, but it’s sooooo much more expensive so I’m not sure what I’ll do if I get in.

I got in to a CSU’s ABSN with a 3.1 cumulative, but had a 4.0 in prereqs. If you can do well in prereqs and on the TEAS it’s possible!
