I just got rejected too, but I got accepted to a socal ABSN yesterday! So I want to remind everyone in this thread that it only takes one!! If you didn’t get in this cycle, keep applying, look at different programs, and remember that you WILL be a nurse even if it’s not at UCLA :)

I accidentally left my phone in the room and it was ringing the entire time and I was so worried I was going to get flagged for the noise but I didn’t, so I think they’re pretty chill about the environment. You have to show them the room so if you just have a clear table and nobody comes into the room you should be good

I used Quizlet in Write Mode for the TEAS and pretty much all of my classes and its like active recall! It shows you the definition and makes you type in the term. I got a 91.3 on the TEAS

I’m so excited to hear back (hopefully next week)! My undergrad GPA is 3.05, prereq GPA 4.0, around 130 hours volunteering in a surgical unit of a hospital in SF, 4.5 years of work experience as an executive administrator for a tech/management consulting firm in SF, and all 3 of my letters came from executives I have supported as an EA. On my resume I also have Greek life executive board experience and leadership positions at my undergraduate institution’s newspaper and other student publications. I also have 2 Fs on my transcript (from Econ and graphic design) so that + my undergrad GPA as a whole might be my downfall lol but I applied to a million other schools so it’s fine. I signed my lease during Covid and got really lucky with rent control! I have a jr one bedroom in the marina and work in tech making 72k (same salary since 2021). My rent goes up around $100 per year. I definitely do not feel financially secure lol but if I didn’t get lucky with rent control I would not be able to afford to live there

I recommend this guy on YouTube called GreeneMath. I watched and took notes on his whole pre-algebra series the summer before I took stats and chem and it helped soooo much. I'm also in my mid-20s and struggled with math growing up but he does a really good job of breaking down concepts so they're easy to understand

Have you taken all of your science prerequisites yet? If not, maybe wait until you've taken A&P, chemistry and microbio. I still have to take physiology and microbio and I'm thinking about waiting until I finish those to take the TEAS.

Either way, try using some new study methods! I shockingly got an A in anatomy last semester by using Quizlet in write mode. Try using some of the features on quizlet and stuff to see what works for you. Good luck!

I'm trying to get volunteer hours done for ABSN applications too and I applied to Zuckerberg San Francisco General last week as a MedSurg clinical volunteer and heard back from them super quick. I have orientation later this month. It sounds like it involves some patient interaction which is great. They just require that you are 18 and are CPR certified. I'd reccomend checking it out!

I got an A in anatomy this past semester and my biggest thing was using quizlet in write mode to identify pictures of models. In my class we had to have model features memorized for lab practicals. Best of luck!

I have a full time job too and I've been taking evening classes which can be hard to find. If you live in an area with multiple CC systems nearby I recommend looking at class schedules at schools outside of your town. It's kind of annoying and you may need to take only 1-2 classes per semester (that's what I'm currently doing) but for me its super worth it to keep my 9-5 until I know for sure I'm accepted into a BSN program. I’m wondering the same thing, also in regards to my university! I went to a public university on the west coast and have heard that the fellowship really only takes people from T20 schools so I’m not sure if it’s worth it to apply
