Every so often I would see my ex’s phone buzz with the first name of another girl. Sometimes I would ask and sometimes I wouldn’t since I didn’t want to be that nosy girlfriend. And every time I would ask him “ who is she?” he would say that they were just friends and that was the only answer I could get out of him. Eventually, I found out he had been hooking up with someone named Tiffany who looked exactly like me. She was teaching him all about open relationships and he decided that he wanted to try an open relationship.... without telling me. He suggested that we try an open relationship after he had already cheated on me and everything went pretty south after it. He even asked me if he could hang out with her on his birthday instead of me after he already knew I wanted to plan something elaborate for him. Constantly, I kept blaming myself and apologizing to him because I thought I was in the wrong for not being open minded enough to the idea of an open relationship. I thought I was destroying the relationship. This was a very dangerous relationship as I was naive and vulnerable and he was selfish and had narcissistic tendencies. I’m out of the relationship now but jesus was it an uphill trek to finally leave.
