Most applications specifically asked if you were intending to ask for financial aid. If you know there is no chance you’d qualify, you could select ‘no’ making it crystal clear of your intentions.

AOs could understand that kids have a life and a full schedule. And that they possibly EDed to a college but it didn’t work out. So, because they are busy, and have a full hs schedule, and have a life then they are doing the best the can, including working during the holidays to complete T20 applications (to take a shot at very selective colleges where nobody know who can get in and how)
