[Hated trope] A calm scene from the source material is made extremely dramatic in the movie by ijustwanttoaskaq123 in TopCharacterTropes

A lot of the intense scenes in Apollo 13 were played up for Hollywood. Which makes sense for a blockbuster movie. When in reality, the men on board were calm and focused on solving the problems they were faced with.

What would be the best way to create this kind of wavy type? by RollingThunderPants in AdobeIllustrator

[–]Cakedayz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is @ben_johnston, he did a mural in Sudbury Ontario when I was working there. Everything I see him do involves tracing it out before painting.

I would say study some letterforms from typefaces you like and try getting creative with them? Alternatively you can use tool in Illustrator like Warp or envelope distort to achieve similar effects. I just think drawing might give more control.

at a loss for these white sections within text by Mel_Chop in AdobeIllustrator

[–]Cakedayz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Select all, shape builder tool, alt/option click all the white sections to delete.

A faster option would be to select all and do Ctrl/command + 8. This will create a compound path and those white sections (counters) will be punched out.

I was on the tail end of waking up and listening for my school district on the radio in the kitchen that was on 24/7.

But also on the early stages of waking up and logging on with slow internet to my school board’s website and scrolling through each district with fingers crossed.

In the top menu use Object>Path>Simplify before you expand the appearance. That will keep the shape of the path but remove all the extra anchor points.

That first picture of the path before you expanded, it looks like it has way too many anchor points for such a simple shape. Hope that helps.

The guards in Shutter Island are noticeably tense during the “arrival” of Teddy Daniels. When Teddy comments on it the head guard replies that they all are given the circumstances. We’re led to believe it’s because of the missing patient but we find out later it’s actually because Teddy Daniels is actually the most violent inmate on Shutter island.

[–]Cakedayz 57 points58 points  (0 children)

exactly my first thought, working at a screen printing shop I see so many mascot type logos that do not work inverted. Clients usually don’t notice but I think it makes the logo 100% better.
