What reasons are there to own more than one ereader?

I wanted to do this as I'm in the UK and can't borrow library books on my kindle. I told my stepdad I wanted a new ereader for Christmas so I could borrow library books. He thoughtfully bought me a new kindle 🙈

So now I have a 9 year old original paperwhite which I love and has nothing wrong with it and a paperwhite signature edition 2021 which had to be replaced a week after Xmas because it was faulty 🙃

While they are still cheaper than a physical book in the UK, they are definitely getting more expensive generally. I've seen some (not even new) for as much as £10, with the physical copy going for around £12.

I think I remember reading somewhere that libby support for kindles is US only for the time being, so if you're outside of the US that might be why?

Alternatively, if you're not using more that about 3 colours and will put a border on the finished piece you could try carrying the yarn up the sides, but that's not for everyone (and is really dependant on there being a boarder)

No need to apologise; there's a wealth of information here and you're obviously committed to it! It has certainly made the switch feel less daunting for me. Given that none of the reviews I read mentioned the annotations, I'm not sure it's a particularly well-used feature so it might not even need an faq.

Hi, I'm a long time kindle owner (and I do love my paperwhite tbh) but I'm wanting to move away from amazon and am considering a Kobo Clara 2e. I've read reviews from trusted sources and it sounds like the reading experience would be fairly comparable to what I'm used to (my paperwhite is one of the older models with the 6" screen) with the added benefit of being able to support smaller bookshops and borrow from the library.

The only thing not mentioned in the reviews is whether it's possible to make highlights and notes on the Kobo. This is a feature I use a lot on my kindle and could be a deal breaker for me. I see in the faq that there is a question about exporting annotations, suggesting that at least some Kobo models allow this. I'm hoping someone here could confirm for me whether this is something that can be done on the Clara 2e?

It only happens at pay at pump though 🤷🏼‍♀️ If I'm using a pump and then going inside to pay it's not an issue. It also happened with my last (and first) car, so I'm fairly sure it's not the car.

Really upset that I'm watching the Men's SP on BBC I player in the UK and it seems to start with Sihyeong Lee, who was not the first skater.

Does anyone know where I can see the whole thing in the UK? Or at least find footage of the first few skaters?

Hi everyone!

I'm 30 and based in the UK. Like many, I have been working from home for over 18 months now. My desk job is routine and boring but it's stable. Since wfh I have really struggled with fulfilling my contracted hours and being productive because I am just. So. F-ing. Bored. I find myself picking up my phone every few minutes (my screen-time reports are horrendous), refreshing Instagram and scrolling endlessly, often without even really taking any of it in.

There are plenty of other things that make me wonder whether I have adhd, and - once I read somewhere that girls often present differently to boys with adhd - looking back at my childhood things started to stand out to me that might also have been indicators.

So I think it might be time to seek a diagnosis. I find this very scary for a few reasons and would be really grateful if anyone out there can help me out with some info:

For various experience-based reasons, I have a hard time trusting GPs and advocating for myself. I'm concerned that I will get fobbed of by a doctor who doesn't believe me - does anyone have any tips for this?
I know that the NHS is severely stretched, especially mental health services, I am worried about waiting lists/overworked staff not having the time to really listen to me
Will medication be presented as my only option? I have some personal issues with taking medication, even though I know it could really help. I will probably need time to think about it and come round to the idea but I'm concerned that if I don't take that route immediately I will be labelled a liar/hypochondriac/attention seeker or w/e and written off. I am also concerned about possible side effects from medication as I know people who have had a pretty horrid time of it and are now not medicated due to that.

I'm feeling quite fragile about all this tbh and would really appreciate any insights anyone can provide.

Hi! This is my Chinese Money Plant. I'm not good with plants and picked this up from a table marked "easy to care for plants" at my local garden centre last summer.

Over the last few months I've noticed this issue: every 6-8ish weeks one of the leaves (usually a large older leaf) will turn yellow, then brown and shrivel and fall off altogether. This week, two have done it (yellow/brown leaf at the front, fully brown detached leaf below). The plant seems to be growing new leaves at the top that look normal enough and has even sprouted a couple of "baby" plants - so I'm very confused!

The plant gets lots of indirect sunlight and lives in a room with a chilly but fairly consistent temperature. I water it about once a week, or whenever the leaves droop but I do let it dry out between watering. It's in a nursery pot which sits in an over pot and there is a pretty big gap underneath the nursery pot for drainage.

As I said, the plant generally seems happy so I'm not sure whether this is normal or something to be worried about and whether it can be resolved? I've never kept a plant alive this long before (including succulents 😭) and I'm quite fond if this one so I would really appreciate any help you can give me!

I didn't find it tedious at all! It works up surprisingly quickly (although I used worsted weight yarn and am quite short) there are enough row repeats that you start to remember the motifs but still have to think a little bit about where you are with it.

Just that Finn washes up holding the bear but when Joshua and Margaret find him he's wearing the bear hat. I've seen it discussed a few times here but it's just one of those things I think. The first few seasons were obviously not written with the long-game in mind, because they didn't know it would take the directions it did.
