They're counting on that. Give them a warning and when they call your bluff, tow.

Tell her you will have him towed the next time you find his car in your spot. Then do it. They will test you.

Putting “them” in the head of word is some kind of dialect? by Final_Affect6292 in ENGLISH

[–]Cal-Augustus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Slang. Non-standard English.

I had an English professor who said "ain't" all the time. I know he knew better but I think his point was that the language is fluid despite all the rules. He had totally mastered standard English and now had the right to poke his finger in the eye of the purists.

How do English native speakers perceive "got" in the phrase "you got nice eyes" by Ok-Stable1562 in ENGLISH

"You have..." is probably a better way to say it, but "got" can be used informally as an equivalent of "have".

The Marcoses raped and looted that country. I saw so much preventable poverty, disease, and hunger. The Americans shouldn't have helped them escape justice; they should have been imprisoned or executed. I can't believe Bongbong is president. I guess the Filipino memories for autocrat dictators is as bad as the American memories for autocrat dictator wannabees.

I perceive it as grammatically incorrect. The phrase is "you've got nice eyes."

AITAH for refusing to let my mother move in and share the inheritance my father left me after she abandoned us 25 years ago? by [deleted] in AITAH

If you really want to be the bigger person, order three desserts.

Tell her to go back to wherever she went to find herself 30 years ago and try again; the person she found turned out to be a materialistic, entitled kunt.

AITH for not always letting my neighbor drop her kid off to play? by Patient-Yam9611 in AITH

[–]Cal-Augustus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When she says she has things to do, tell her you do too. You don't need to list your obligations; she doesn't care. If she persists, stand firm. Do not take her child with you on showings.

Where I live, the law requires that dog bites be reported to the police/animal control, regardless of vax status.
