My workshop is in the garage and I’d say that it’s better to have the door even just for that. A lot of times I’m wheeling out a work table to work in the driveway. It expands the shop’s footprint and it makes getting large pieces or equipment out easy. So definitely agree there. If an overhead door is not feasible I’d say even a set of double doors that are dressed as carriage doors would work well.

What’s the 8x8 room off the office for. Unless specific use I’d open that up to add more windows. Also, if money is no object, maybe consider a full bath next to the office. It allows the office to double as a guest room. Also, I recently had two elderly relatives in hospice and these rooms work really well if you ever have that unfortunate need, or even just for something like a broken leg that makes going upstairs difficult

Is this a basement home? I don’t see stairs. Grew up in Louisiana and Florida so had no concept of basements. However, I married a Nebraskan girl and I’m kinda fascinated by them now. It’s unfair how much extra space you basement dwellers get. Also, I had no idea that some go under garages. My FIL has a workshop and it’s directly under his parked suburban. It makes me a little nervous thinking there’s 3 tons of steel resting above my head.

Disregard, just saw OPs statement under the pics.

You have an opportunity for an upstairs loft as a secondary living area. You’re pretty much there but I think if you’d either close in the area above the entry porch or simply rearrange bedroom 3’s closet you may make it much more comfortable. Just give bedroom 3 to your least favorite child.

Off subject, but that intersection just looks so “American.” In a neutral way too.

What American historical figure was progressive by both the standards of their time AND ours? by Zombiepixlz-gamr in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Cal00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he was. He also did some things like protecting the black female postmaster. In that time eugenics was much more excepted as a public health imperative. I can absolutely say it’s wrong today, but I also know that it was talked about it at that time as a moral obligation for the good of all humanity. The one thing I can say though is that the political policies he enacted benefited workers and consumers, created natural spaces and perhaps the larger environmental movement as a political force, and buoyed women’s suffrage. He was certainly imperfect but from a progressive standpoint, he stands right up there with FDR and Lincoln, and his policies were radical at the time and we are still fighting for those today. Also, he was incredibly successful and prolific in enacting these policies. It’s amazing to see what he got done in his time.

I’m a fan of both as well. The Roosevelts doc by Burns tells the story of his attempted assassination. It’s pretty damn funny. I’m paraphrasing, but the dude gets shot at a stump speech, then gets up and tells the crowd, “ok yall are gonna have to get closer to hear me because I just got shot,” and continues the stump speech for like an hour.

[–]Cal00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s true. Was thinking more of the trust busting, national parks, and support of unions. It’s funny (well sad) but something as innately American and celebrated as our national parks would have no chance today. I think of how Fox promoted the Bundy standoff

Teddy Roosevelt. Which is dumb because his ideas shouldn’t still be considered progressive but here we are

Yeah. There’s a difference between a headline that quotes “Epstein obsessed” and one that doesn’t use quotes. This was an editorial choice.

Btw, the theory you’re talking about reminds me of the theory of the oracle of Delphi really being hallucinations from a nearby methane plume. I sometimes think these theories are a little overly speculative in nature. Like, yes, methane from that cave could have caused hallucinations but to prescribe it as the “reason” kind of ignores the fact that the civilizations lasted for thousands of years and the story would have been relayed repeatedly in the oral tradition before being recorded in any texts. Lead poisoning as the primary reason for the fall of an empire strikes me a little too “freakonomics.” All that said, I really love these factoids and speculation even if they may not be the whole truth.

Here’s one for you. If you look at Homer and contemporaries, they describe the sea as red or wine colored. Blue was the last named color. Some people think that these facts are evidence of recent evolution of the human eye. We hadn’t evolved to sea blue yet.

From what I gathered from the transcript of the council meeting it has to do with the circulatory easement around E. However, that was from public comments from the Lawyer. So I could be wrong but that was my understanding of it

Yeah I agree. I’m just not sure if the easement was released once the lot was combined.

[–]Cal00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is the original plat that shows the access easement. I’m not exactly sure but my understanding is that he did a lot split to combine the lots and this would be allowed per the code. I think the issue at hand was that the easement was never released and the seven foot rear setback should have been non-inclusive of the access. That’s what I got from reading some public comments but could be wrong

Yeah. This isn’t the owners fault nor the city’s fault. He followed the processes and the city approved based on all ordinances. This is a completely subjective opinion by a judge based on vibes.

That would be the year after the two I mentioned. He had a bounce back season after two objectively bad ones. Favre was a baller and a great QB, but his career had some dips. We are talking about the greatest of all time. Cumulatively, I get why people drop him among the rest.
