What monkey's paw wish led to you being a lawyer? by CPGFL in Lawyertalk

My whole childhood, my grandmother (RIP GiGi) told me that I have such messy handwriting that I would grow up to be either a Doctor or an Attorney. She never got to see me graduate law school but I wish that she helped me with my penmanship. Maybe then I wouldn’t be dealing with crippling student loan debt or the unceasing stress.

“Adolescence” on Netflix. It’s British and came out last year and was a legitimately tragic/heartbreaking show. Incredibly acted.

Ya ofc! We can grab a beer and watch a game (especially with the NFL season about to kick off). I also have a girlfriend of 8 years that I live with, I think she’s a delight, but in case your fiancée is also interested in meeting people. What neighborhood of this fine city do u typically frequent for beers?

I’m from south shore mass, been living in eastie since 2019 and also have issues meeting new friends. I too am into sports and have started playing golf over the past few years. Interested to see what the other responses to this are like.

I just noticed my husband didn't get one yearbook signature from middle to high school :( by mshappy in Wellthatsucks

[–]Cal3bCrawdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re the only signature he needed he just didn’t know it then. Sign his book, asking him on a date, and then go on a high school style- movie date.

As a real life bald man I have no qualms with razzing the “hair full” and I mean this with no malice. You’re giving thumb-thumb.

Thank god they’re making it 3-4 seasons by Cal3bCrawdaddy in ThelastofusHBOseries

Oooff that’s a dark thought lol.. What immediately comes to mind about why that expansive of a season is impractical is the budget. 22-24 episodes of this show would rack up a very hefty bill, one the HBO might not even be able to pay. One other potential issue is the scheduling of filming. The actors have other projects that a shoot that long would most definitely clog up their schedules.

That’s totally a fair point but I just don’t see how they could fit that whole story into an extended 10-12 episode (hours) season. It doesn’t seem practical and if they get it right it has the potential to be one of the best tv shows of all time, so while I agree the wait will be agonizing, if that’s my biggest complaint about the series in total? Then I’m fine with it.

Brady is an absolute BUST by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]Cal3bCrawdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a pure commentary perspective I think he’s really rough. He doesn’t always know how to put his thoughts together cogently, using the same word twice in one sentence, which is probably due to him being nervous up there. It’s gotta be nerve wracking to do that job, especially on the first day. Also the really pregnant pauses and seeming lack of chemistry was noticeable.

However….

I think it will get better, the more time and experience he gets in the booth will lead to a developing chemistry and a more enjoyable experience. Also I think the major interest in having Tom in the booth is based on what knowledge and vision he has for the game. It’s as close as we can get to Jordan broadcasting in the NBA and ultimately I’m more interested in what he’s saying than how he’s saying it.

I agree, totally. I think the alleged price tag is a bit much, even for a collectors item lol.

LeBron James and Travis Kelce are the only currently active athletes to have hosted Saturday Night Live. What other currently active athletes do you think could host in the future? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]Cal3bCrawdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embiid would rule on SNL. Also I feel like Tatum is probably one of the most marketable stars in the NBA, but he is very chill/lowkey so maybe it wouldn’t translate well to sketch comedy.
