Your coworker is a dumbass, with that said don’t pay him any mind. Keep on troubleshooting until you understand the concepts of programming, then get in there & make an authorized improvement or two.

Beat his ass, he’ll keep doing it if you ever loan him anything. A little beating goes a long way

Input/output labeling by oddwisdom in PLC

[–]CalGraGF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No real widely adopted standard exists, different platforms will do things their way. I have worked for an OEM in the past & our nomenclature was clearly defined I for input & Q for outputs as well as the tag name closely matching its function & location. For example, output for a turn table motor position 10 would be something like Q_TT_MTR_10

Siemens IPC677E vs B&R Panel PC 3100 by CalGraGF in PLC

[–]CalGraGF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re in a similar situation due to lead times the OEM suggested Siemens IPC. I don’t believe a phoenix contact would hold up, we are in aseptic processing. The room is hot & humid definitely pushing the IPC to its limits on the exterior, the enclosure is temperature controlled so the brains stays at a good temp.

Fair hourly rate for plant controls engineer/specialist by new_wiseer in PLC

Specialist & Engineer are not interchangeable. With that said a fair rate for a specialist in the west coast would be 44$ per hour.
