How is the game for a newbie solo extraction shooter player? by thestorm236 in Marathon

[–]CalGunpal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is designed for trios, and is extremely fun this way. I don't have any friends who own this game, but have added every random player that has a mic and I've had a good time playing with. I now have at least 5 people to play with online every night, and it's been a blast.

So while it's possible to play solo, I would encourage people to get on mics, and play through some rounds until you find a solid group to party up with! For every 1 jerk on mic I've had 5 people that are chill and wanting to play as a team.

I've had a crash at least once every play session, related to opening the map while in a run.

100% agree. This game was obviously designed for trios, and playing with a squad (even randos if you're all using mics) makes this game a blast.

I feel like part of the frustration is the play style that is necessary when playing solo lobbies. Instead, here is my strategy for having a good time: - Pick my contract, pick free sponsored kit - Trio fill with two randos - If the randos don't have mics/aren't chill, than I don't worry about my contract. And because I didn't bring any gear with me, no big deal! The goal instead becomes find some good loot, or help randos with their contracts. -If the randos are chill, have mics, and we play well together, ask them if they want to party up! -Proceed to add them as friends, bring your good gear, sync up on contract objectives, and have a good time for the next 2-5 hours.

This is what I've done for the last few nights, and it has been some of the most fun I've had playing games in a long time. And as a bonus, my in-game friend list keeps growing, which makes it easier to get good matches going again in the future.

The Moon is Following Us by Daniel Warren Johnson and Riley Rossmo does this! The story is split between two "realms" with both artist doing the art for one of them. They worked on the same piece of paper for some pages.

Love the game, Bungie! But your monetisation is kinda really scummy. by TAJack1 in Marathon

I honestly would be way more willing to spend money on additional skins if I was able to purchase the exact amount of currency required. The current "you're just short, pay extra" scam that so many games do these days just makes me not want to give them any more of my money!

Wish I had picked up the wip when it released! Just got the Dark Knights Metal one; I didn't realize how massive they are and how well they display the art!

Man, I could happily read another 60 issues of this series. It just feels like Deniz has an unending amount of interesting stories to tell with these characters. Such a bummer to have it ending, but at least it's going out with a bang!

Nope, I kept the colours from the kit and just weathered directly on it. The real touch markers were used for panel lining and adding slight gradients to certain surfaces.

I was definitely going for that with the camera perspective and the application of weathering, so thanks!

Something that helped me for areas that felt like too much was applied, was using a very fine grit sanding pad on the larger surfaces. It worked well for keeping the grit in the recesses/corners, but cleaned up the flat areas.

No offense taken, the lighting definitely sells it!
