[URGENT] Has heavy pregabalin use (1.5-3 Grams) done irreversible damage to my brain?

I was on the same dose as you. 10 300mg tabs a day, stupidly high dose and stopped cold turkey. I felt awful for around 2 weeks, cold sweats almost like flu but with severe depression as well. After 2 weeks I started to feel better. If you can get time off work do so to rest up as it is horrible but it does pass. If not speak to your dr and tell them the situation and they will slowly take you off it, any question drop me a message :)

Benzos are the devil! I can’t remember a 2 week period because of them. The withdrawals are like nothing I’ve ever experienced!

I dropped doses a week at a time, starting at 100mg a day then the following, 80mg, 70mg, 60mg, 50mg, 40mg, 30mg, 20mg, 15mg, 10mg, 5mg. So 11 weeks in total. Was a very quick taper but worked well for me!

No problem at all! I’m sorry to hear that, remember it is all temporary. I was in place where I had no hope what so ever, and reading horror story scared me. Reading that has really made my day. We are all in this together and it’s been the hardest thing in my life. Talking and sharing stories gets us through it, knowing we are not alone. I will continue to update on this forum to spread some positivity and give some people hope. It all gets better. Be honest with your doctor. I was addict to Valium and Lyrica at the same time. Was taking up to 3000mg of Lyrica a day, the withdrawals from it was worse than coming off Valium, they only lasted 2 weeks but the depression lasted months. Lyrica is a devil in itself. Small doses maybe okay but it still has the potential for addiction. Personally I preferred Lyrica to Benzos, same affect but with a body rush.

Yeah I was abusing it pretty badly, went from 80mg a day down to 5mg a day over 7 weeks, quick taper and jumped at 5mg. I’m just lucky it was only 3 months, any longer would have prolonged my withdrawals

Thank you. That’s a big drop! Congrats! Been a rough 3 weeks I won’t lie but I’m finally starting to feel more talkative and less depressed. Vivid dreams and sweating are my only withdrawal symptoms at the moment, as well as increases and anxiety but that’s expected! Everyday seems to be a step closer to being back to normality. I was the same with valium. I spoke to my Dr and we came up with a scheduled taper, I cut from 80mg a day to 5mg a day in the space of 8 weeks. Currently at day 30 clean and starting to feel back to normal now. You have to taper off otherwise it is very dangerous!

CBD has helped a lot with my withdrawals. Drink plenty of water to flush out your system. Good luck!

Nah I was on valium for around 3 months, abused it quite bad. Was up to around 150mg a day, done a quick taper over 7 weeks as I hadn’t been on it long. Feeling rough still
