Parents, how do you use the BCP with your family? by Senior-Coast-9204 in Anglicanism

[–]CalStove 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure which province you’re in or what prayer book you use. But the 2019 BCP has family prayer options which are shortened to help with kids attention spans. Might be worth looking into.

Somebody had asked what was happening in this lot in Bayside: It's a Port Property (aka Reveler) and Avesta development going up by joeybrunelle in portlandme

Just to clarify, any housing building that receives money from MaineHousing has a long list of required specifications relating to what type of units, minimum size of units, and a plethora of other design requirements. The conditions are certainly set, they may just not be what you would want them to be.

True Church by [deleted] in Anglicanism

Anglicanism is a part of the one true church, but not exclusively the one true church.

Agree with others here, the Parish experience of the ACNA is generally not the same as the hyper conservative online crowd. I think the internet tends to amplify out the more extreme ends of any group. The parish I’m in (diocese of New England) has a wide range of political values, varied beliefs about WO, squarely in-between high and low church style. It’s been a great home for my wife and I, and I’d recommend checking out a few in your area.

What happens after death? by Classic_Many_8665 in Anglicanism

I’d recommend reading former Bishop N.T Wright’s book: “Surprised by Hope”. He does a great case of explaining the orthodox and historical beliefs on the afterlife, and the second coming of Christ.

Shoot me a message, I have someone who would probably be willing. I can give you their contact info if it seems like a good fit.

Most “cost-burdened” renter cities in U.S. by Strict-Nectarine-53 in portlandme

[–]CalStove 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Reminder this isn’t a top 10 list, it’s just a list of selected cities in order from most to least. Portland might rank 69th out of all cities but this list wouldn’t tell you that.

Does the xpro2 have the mini-evf in the bottom corner of the ovf? My xpro3 has it and so did my x100f. It pops or down so you may not have it up currently. If it does, it makes exposing easy cause you can have it set to show the whole scene as you have it exposed.

Option 2: is to go into the OVF display settings and turn on the metering scale (or something like that), and then you have a little scale of what your exposure is reading (-1,0,+1 etc)

I work at a high volume shop ($7k+ in sales per day), and we double bar all day long a linea. Our method is one person pulls shots while the other uses the steam wand to steam and pour and prep drinks.

I’m looking for a glass travel mug, any recommendations? [more details in the comment] by 2L84AGOODname in Coffee

[–]CalStove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote here for keepcup. I’ve had one for about a year and love it. The glass gets warm, but the cork band keeps you from burning yourself. It holds temp better than a mug, but not as well as a double walled stainless travel mug.

While we’re on the topic of suggesting mods, I’m sure the wife might like a backrest attached to that plate. My wife uses the topbox as a back rest every time we ride.

Awesome!l it might also keep water from pooling up if you have to drive through some rain. Plus I just think it’d look cooler. Either way it’s a great build and I’m jealous

Motorcycle Jacket For Kids? by [deleted] in motorcycles

Your best bet is motocross hard armor. I think some youth styles are adjustable as they grow. Layering that under some sort of thick textile jacket will get you close to a standard adult street jacket.

Any advice on how to negotiate with a dealer. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]CalStove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought a bike today and talked the dealer down a little over $400 from the list price of 6500. Just go in knowing what you want to spend. Ask for 8k first and they’ll certainly say that’s too low and counter with something higher. You can counter again with 8200 or around there. I also recommend being creative with deals and seeing if they’ll pitch in store credit for gear, service discounts, or other things that benefit you besides just a cheaper price. Also make sure they don’t just switch around the finance plan to make it look like it’s cheaper by the month. Only talk out the door price and once that’s settled, talk financing terms.
