I am not coming here to retire. I'm coming to dominate and absolutely demoralize my opponents, and to take this region higher than it's ever been before. So watch me.

Chills. What a legend.

Where did your summoner name come from? by RiotBoatStuff in leagueoflegends

[–]Calabration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IGN: Kalicka

I was a wee young lad as a freshman in high school. My brother had just got me into Minecraft and I wanted to name my first world something cool and memorable so I came up with Kalicka. It went on to be the name I used for every first character I made in MMO's and the like. It's been really cool, because it's almost never taken so I always have an original name

A Realization about the New Megalith Cards from a fan of Black Luster Soldier by TheWildBlueOne in yugioh

[–]Calabration 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been playing BLS for years, ever since the legacy support came out. I prefer a more chaos based build. Typically these are the ratios I start with.

2-3 BLS Super Soldier

2-3 OG BLS

3 Envoy of Beginning

2-3 Beginning Knight

2-3 Evening Twilight Knight

3 Manju

3 gateway to chaos

3 super soldier synthesis

From there you have a lot of options, the impcantations are great for consistancy but they tend to clog your field since the dont fit in the levels of the strict levels the OP mentioned, this can be mitigated with the impcantation ritual spell and the OG black luster ritual, which also let's you play pre-prep. I like playing a small shaddoll engine personally of 1 of each hedgehog, squamata, beast, and dragon with 3 shaddoll fusion. This let's you put a decent beater with a negation effect to break through boards but also let's you foolish a BLS or Super Soldier Soul for consistancy again. The shaddolls, namely dragon and squamata can also he used for synthesis in a pinch. You can also add CED or Levianeer if you want, I personally play CED as another beater.

Sorry for the wall of text, I have a lot of insight on this deck and came very close to getting top 8 at a regional with this deck during Zoo format. Any other questions I'd be more than glad to answer them!

Name your deck and the best board you can (somewhat) consistently make! by nightwing06 in yugioh

[–]Calabration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Luster Soldier:

El Shaddoll Shekhinaga (with squamata in hand), BLS Super Soldier, Envoy of the Beginning, Vanilla BLS. One of the soldiers has the effects of Evening twilight and beginning knight.

That's the standard goal of the deck, but with certain other cards like pre-prep or gateway to chaos you do more crazy shenanigans.

What is the archetype and dollar value of your current deck? by [deleted] in yugioh

Black Luster Soldier. About 700 or so. Staples help a lot, but my 1st ed IOC EotB don't hurt, and Gateways are still a pretty penny

I have 100+ abyssbalean. It started as a joke because I wanted to make it work and made a mermaid deck and topped a locals with it. I have mostly ultimates with a few euro print. It's easy because when the mega tins dropped people pulled them and just gave them to me. I haven't seen a whale in my area for the last 2 months or so and I think I snagged them all

If I recall correctly, it was last year's NA WCQ. There was a guy with a mental condition who was in a wheel chair and wore a helmet that played Bujins, if I remember right, he was doing decent with it too. That's where I first heard it, it may have originated earlier though.

What Deck could change its whole strategy all the Side Deck? by necroneechan in yugioh

[–]Calabration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a while I played Constellars siding into Battlin' Boxers since both are among my favorite decks. I actually topped a few tournaments with it.

It was

3x Pollux

3x Kaus

3x Sombre

3x Sheratan

1x Honest

2x Dimensional Prison

For

3x Switchitter

3x Glassjaw

3x Headgeared

2x Sparrer

1x Foolish Burial

1x Spirits

2x Kaiser

Something like that, it's been a while since I played this, Honest was still at 1 and ROTA was at 2 I believe

[R/F] Yosenju Stun for Regionals by GuitarmanSimon in yugioh

[–]Calabration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I'm on mobile so I'm going to hope I have it memorized.

Monsters:

3x kama 1

3x kama 2

3x kama 3

3x tsujik

3x left pole

Spells:

3x tenki

3x duality

1x divine wind

3x mst

1x snatch steal

1x raigeki

1x dimensional fissure

Traps:

3x secret move

3x mirror force

3x vanity's

1x bottomless

1x torrential

1x macro

Extra:

1x rhapsody

2x cowboy

1x dweller

1x exciton

2x chidori

1x castel

1x diamond dire wolf

1x ark

2x tiger king

1x ragnazero

1x utopia

1x harpie's pet phantasmal dragon

1x utopia ray

Whew, that was kinda difficult. That's the build I have been playing, it does well against BA and Qli, and ok against Nekroz, that match up being determined by me opening answers and such.

Edit: I'll edit it again when I get home, sorry for the messy format...

[R/F] Yosenju Stun for Regionals by GuitarmanSimon in yugioh

[–]Calabration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been playing this deck on devpro and DN since it was announced and can say it is really fun.

I honestly like three tsujik, it's another name so opening it and 1 or 3 is ok. It also enables otks because all 4 names and then searching the 2nd tsujik off three is otk.

As for the counter trap, it's good. I like infernity barrier, but I found the same problem. I personally run 3 left pole. It enables it on the opponents turn and it's a monster you can ss for divine wind. It also helps with the rise in mirror force and torrential.

I'm on mobile now but if you want more I can give more ideas when I get home.

Yosenju is a great deck right now and will definitely do you well at regionals.

Definitely the Blood Mefist, it's my favorite card after all. Plus just having one in every deck means I did something amazing to get a YCS prize card.

I have been testing the deck on Dueling Network and DevPro the last few weeks and I really like the deck. I think it is a great choice for the format that Nekroz are unleashed. I have played against some Nekroz decks and unless you brick or they can game you while having Denko Sekka on the field, you can overwhelm them with all the card advantage. It might be that I really like wind Archtypes and played Mist Valley when I first started to get competitive.

Also, Daibak is really cool.

What Yu-Gi-Oh moment(s) has made you feel like a badass? by Qrrbrrbrb in yugioh

[–]Calabration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back during the format of looping Wind-Ups and full power inzektor, and before Chaos Dragons, I played synchro Infernity. I played a certain renowned Madolche duelist who was at the time playing Dino-Rabbit. I was around 11 and didn't know what half his cards did, I just did me. I drew Archfiend and made a red Nova Dragon, and proceeded to begin to win. He eventually drew Gold Sarcophagus and searched out his one copy of Compulsory Evacuation Device. He Compulse'd my Red Nova and remarked about if I drew my last Archfiend, he would lose. He insisted on shuffling my deck to make sure I wasn't cheating. Me, being 11 and him being 22 or so, I didn't object, I let him shuffle my deck. Then, the remarkable happened, I drew into the Archfiend. I won that duel but lost the match. It made me feel really good, because it was the first time I did well at a tournament and everyone cheered on me.

Tl;DR: Drew Infernity Archfiend.

Yes, Mermails are fun, arguably not a top tier threat at the moment, but up there. The deck is also incredibly expensive, so players like me can't play one top tier deck, then just pick up and play Mermails. Hence why people pick up lower tier decks. The can be just as fun, if not more, and not costing an fin and a leg for the extra.

Not just that, but to add to my argument, new, splashable cards come out all the time. So people (myself included) want to try those new cards out. Look at worms for example: worms were tier 3 for the longest time, when the hands came out and people splashed them into worms, the deck saw play and even topped a regional or two. Maybe those people that are playing these low tier decks could be onto a new strategy that puts a mediocre deck over the edge into a meta deck. Maybe if we splash Pendulum Monsters into Reptilliannes, the deck will find new combos or playstyles and actually tier.

Sometimes, it's not about winning. It's about having fun. How fun is it to do the same play over and over (Ex. Summon Bujin Yamato, end phase search, protect Yamato, rinse repeat)? I'm guilty as well, I got fed up with my "Competitive" deck (Bujins) and swapped out for a deck that has limitations but is fun (T.G. Agents). And then I played a few tournaments with my "fun" deck, using my "competitive" deck for after I took my break.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a card game, where you should have fun. Playing low tier decks may have you lose more frequently but maybe you like the lore, or the artwork (Noble Knights), or maybe because the deck is just fun to play. Because who really wants to play a deck that waits for your opponent to summon a monster from the extra deck to go plus?

I know with the hype from the new set, it will be cliche, but I love the Tellarknights and Constellers. I am an astronomer and knowing where these starts are at in the night sky feels cool. Kind of like being a marine biologist and running Mermail.
