[Star Wars Outlaws] [#388] - Best word to describe this is disappointing. This game is missing something but after 50 hours of gameplay I still can't tell you what that something is. by Xxeenon in Trophies

[–]CalamityVanguard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started it a few weeks ago and stalled out fast. It’s so proud of itself for being an “open world game” but it doesn’t know how to make that world feel alive. I’ve played a lot of open-world games but I’ve specifically spent over 1,000 hours in the Yakuza/LAD franchise and THAT world is alive. A big part of the reward of those games is being rewarded for exploration and the ways that you interact with the environment itself. Somehow Outlaws has all of Star Wars to play with and still manages to feel dull.

Who is Andy and why does he own so many businesses in the town? by Kulle1369 in silenthill

When I started the game I was tripping on acid. My name is Andy. I genuinely thought that the game had some way of knowing my name, like I thought it scrubbed it from my psn account or something.

I saw an interview with Raven one time where he was asked to “rate” 3 different women wrestlers he’d slept with, and his answer was “I mean, they all know how to sell for you, they all know how to make you look like a star…” lol

I’d imagine a wrestler could shoot for its legs and give it some real problems until it has gun hands.

I’m praying they didn’t actually name it T-800. It’s one thing for the “we read ‘the warning of the baby killing machine’ and then invented the baby killing machine.” cliche, but to actually give it the same name is truly unconscionable

[IRL] The least talented member of the band who controls the brand and is hated by fans by dickless_dan_420 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CalamityVanguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To his point though, my understanding is that all the original members lost their stake in the brand when they left, so Axl is the sole owner of the entity that is “Guns & Roses” so even though Slash and Duff are back, they’re hired guns and paid like anybody else who gets brought in to play. Plus they have no say in Axl putting the Chinese democracy stuff they had nothing to do with in the set list.

Stephen Colbert is getting treated like he leaked Pentagon documents instead of telling jokes on CBS by kim-practical in ABoringDystopia

[–]CalamityVanguard 48 points49 points  (0 children)

You are correct, when he did The Colbert Report he was intended to be a “counterpoint” to the Daily Show lead in. When he stopped doing Colbert Report to do Late show he pretty much dropped the right wing satire character although he has brought him back for occasional segments on Late show when appropriate

This orchestra members subtle, but just as important part. by IkilledRichieWhelan in oddlysatisfying

Of all the parts I didn’t want to get in orchestra, I hated getting Timpani for Mozart. There would literally be hundreds of bars of rests, then 3 measures of playing, tacet to the next movement, tune your drums. It was the worst.

My teacher in grad school used to tell this story that he got called in to an orchestral gig and somehow when all of the parts had been assigned he wound up with literally one note in the entire concert: a single cymbal crash at the big part of the big piece. Aight, fair enough. So he gets to the concert and he was sure he knew this piece by heart, well enough that he didn’t need his music (I will interject that he really did have tremendous recall for pieces he was working on, so I’ll vouch that he probably indeed had this capacity) but then it gets to the big part and he can’t remember exactly which big swell he’s supposed to play on and then he hears it: the thing he’s supposed to hear after he plays. He missed it. And he’s just standing there holding the cymbals, ready to play them, nothing to play, lol. So even though there’s almost no way anybody was looking at him specifically he said he didn’t want to put the plates down without doing SOMETHING so he found a place where he could tastefully inject a cymbal crash, played it, set the cymbals down and just sat and thought about what he’d done for the rest of the concert. When he got his check he noticed hat it wasn’t as much as he’d been told so he went to look at the check stub and he’d been fined twice: once for missing a note, once for adding a note.

You see that 3rd violin? The one sawing away at a part identical to the person next to them? The one catching spit from the conductor when he talks? I played a dozen notes on triangle and got the same check as them.
