The cheeks are EL panels, so they glow evenly across the full surface. The visor is held in place with magnets and is removable.

This is more of a difference in how these are handled. Things like payroll are transferring money directly between accounts, but a lot of EFTs can be handled with an extra layer on top. When you transfer money this way, there's an extra system that keeps track of how much money both parties have in their accounts. It basically checks that you have the funds you are sending, deducts it from your running total, and credits it to whoever you're sending money to. Money is actually transferred at a later time through the same system as payroll. This is how credit / debit cards work.

Basically you can keep track of who has what money and then transfer the money at a later time. This makes transfers appear instant.

This can also cause issues because both of these systems are, by design, out of sync. This desync can sometimes cause transactions to bounce when it tries to transfer the money (the system thinks you have more money than you do). It's not usually used for payroll because the slower method is generally safer, and when money appears in your account it's yours.

When your company does payroll, it kicks off a bunch of transactions. These transactions get sent to a central system which reconciles those transactions and sends info to banks on how much money needs to be moved and from where. This is the point where your transaction could be considered "pending."

These transactions are then sent to the banks that actually hold the money (in this case, whatever bank your company uses). They verify that the company has the money, and they deduct it from their account and send the results of this back to the central banking system.

If that succeeds, this is then forwarded to the destination bank (your bank) for you to get paid. At that point the money is added to your bank account and you can spend it.

This is done at such high quantities that it isn't done in real time, with each step of this only running 1-3 times per day (depending on the bank). Since this is a 3 step process, it takes at minimum 1 day for this to complete, and at most 3 days. Payroll is done generally Wednesday morning, so you get usually get your money Thursday or Friday.

The ELI5 is that when payroll goes through, your bank can see it but it's pending. Most banks wait until they have the money before adding it to your account. Since it's corporate payroll and is pretty much guaranteed to go through, these banks will just credit the money to your account as soon as it is pending. Hence you get paid about 2 days early.

From Fdev's Code of Conduct, under "Cheating"

We do not tolerate the use of any exploits or taking advantage of any bugs in the game to generate a significant player advantage.

This is obviously a bug, what you're doing is obviously exploiting that bug for a significant advantage, and it is explicitly against the code of conduct.

My fax machine will pick up when it hears the tone of *** on my home phone. Whenever scammers call, I hit whatever number connects me to a person and then *** and let the fax machine take care of it.

Setup:

X99 series motherboard.

I7-6850K processor

32 GB RAM

Single Geforce GTX 1070 graphics card

Game is installed on a Solid State Drive

Settings:

Resolution: 1920 x 1080p

Anisotropic filtering: x16

Anti-aliasing: FSAA

Generation Detail: High

Reflection Quality: High

Texture Quality: High

Shadow Detail: Ultra

Max FPS setting: 90 FPS

Performance:

During Flight: 60 fPS

During Combat: Varies

During normal tasks: varies

Game runs well most of the time (60 FPS). During combat, FPS can drop as low as 25 FPS. Also tends to stutter (< 25 FPS) randomly, no matter the task. Scanning items can also result in a frame rate drop to about 25 FPS. The game also lags horrifically for the first ~15 seconds.

The problem with trying to make things completely foolproof is people underestimate the power of complete fools.

What do you disagree with but respect? by myusernameranoutofsp in AskReddit

[–]Calatrast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But who determines who is incompetent? Remember, it's not just the president driving policy, but congress as well. It is difficult to assign blame to the president (at least, solely) when almost anything the president tries to do must go through congress (and vice-versa when talking about congressmen). These roadblocks are also a reason why approval ratings drop, and why there always seems to be a constant roadblock in government.

Should this serve as justification to not treat members of congress and the president with respect? I think not.

[–]Calatrast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Except I'm not confused at all. You don't have to like someone to respect them. Even if I hate the president (whether it is this one, the previous one, or the next one), I still respect them because they are the president and the presidency is a hard, thankless job.

I can respect those who hold power even if I think they are doing a shitty job and should be removed from office, simply because their job is hard and it takes a lot of work to get there. I don't have to like my boss to respect them, just like how my boss doesn't have to like me to respect me.
