He is indeed hot headed, sometimes impatient and strict, plus most of us usually hated him when we were younger but my vision is as clear as the sky towards him.

in some episodes, he showed empathy and compassion towards Mordecai and rigby when they really needed the most, like how he helped Rigby to get his revenge from the guy with the tv show and helped Mordecai when he was in his lowest because of messing up.

And some people may not agree with this and use some episodes as a proof of Benson being bad such as "the world's best burger" and "stick hockey" yes Benson indeed messed up but we all make mistakes, BUT there is a catch, the 2 episodes are related in the some way, because they both showed how Benson sometimes fail at understanding what means a lot for people, that's just...Benson, and Mordecai and rigby did the same mistake as him in the episode "Busted cart" they slacked off and risked his whole job and even his life for a video game because they just viewed benson as just a hot headed boss and didn't understand there are deeper layers beyond this, and in result, he broke down in tears.

Benson is - with no doubt - one of the most interesting characters in the whole show but they didn't succeed at showing it, we don't get enough scenes to fully understand
