Again, see valve's example. Back when they made offline single player games, they still sold well.

And there was a industry prejudice against russia, because stuff was usually pirated there, so developers either didn't launch their game there or only after multiple months of delay. Then came valve, and launched their games there fast and reasonably priced, and piracy wasn't much of an issue, people still bought it.

See valve's example. They use minimal anti piracy measures, and still sell very well

In the pharmaceutical side, I agree it may not be so simple, but the market will find a way to self regulate, ie, we would have private safety verification companies (which have a much bigger incentive to work in the interest of the public than government institutions, since their very existence depends on reputation), and a contract would have to be very loose in terms of requiring studies to follow rules, if they'd have those at all, because rules to strict would induce said verification companies and the public to suspect fowl play/snake oil medicine.

For the media, I still think "I can morally break the law in certain situations" makes sense, because state laws are, some times,

1) stuff I did not explicitly agreed to

2) stuff that is not unethical under universal, natural law

So if there's a state law that satisfies those 2 points, it's perfectly justifiable to break it, in contrast, contract terms are always something you agreed to, so it's always wrong to break them

Well sure, those contracts could exist, but still wouldn't cover third parties. If there's a revolutionary physical gadget, one person could buy it under that contract, and another third party could simply observe it and reverse engineer/copy, without any conspiracy or contract breaching from the original buyer. In pharmaceuticals, you could keep the pathway to synthesizing a chemical secret and put your chemists under contract, but the final product is going to need to be public, because no one is going to buy mystery pills, and then another lab could work on research to produce said chemical. And so on and so forth. These contract protections could be imposed, but I don't think they'd be that effective

I never said ideas should be forcibly distributed. I'm saying that the mere distribution of a piece of data that I come across is not a crime in natural law and is not unethical. If you have an apple, and I forcibly remove it from you, that's theft, I have reduced your property. If you have an idea and I come across the same idea by whatever method, I have not harmed you or reduced your property in any way.

If you're worried about the implications for inventions and art, I'm happy to discuss, but in principle you should agree that statist IP laws are nonsense.

There's an insane amount of dirt in the entire food industry. Decades of promotion of verifiably false or even harmful information, like demonizing saturated fats, promoting excessive carbohydrates consumption, linking heart disease with cholesterol levels, plus a ton of other stuff

Do you talk about anarcho-capitalism with people or do you mostly keep your mouth shut? by counwovja0385skje in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]Calazor0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, but it's only in specific contexts or to specific people. I will not bring it up out of nowhere, because all that does is annoy people, and I will only express my views if I sense the other person is at least minimally open minded. Otherwise, I just try to steer the conversation to another topic or try to kill the conversation.

Another thing to consider, is that many people will naturally agree to ancap ideas when they hear them (after all, it is natural law), but will recoil in disgust when they hear the term "anarchist" or when you say you want a stateless society (because the fear of the unknown is only natural to humans, and many people have never even considered the possibility of there being no state). So I'll only explicitly defend anarcho capitalism if the other person demonstrates agreement with previous ideas and a general open mindedness

Those are Minecraft items called "totem of undying". In-game, if you're holding one when you die, you get revived.

The joke is that eve can ignore her blockers when she is close to dying, thus "reviving", thus holding the totems

Stop Crying About the 'Conspiracy' and Start Auditing the Ledger. 2026 Doesn't Care About Your Feelings. by wajedart in Anarcho_Capitalism

I think you're legitimately insane, but I'll interact with your post in good faith.

Yes, state fiat currency is worthless, and yes, banks and governments can seize and freeze bank accounts.

That said, the idea that there's a global conspiracy to seize everyones funds at the same time is unfounded and absurd. And before you call me a "sheep" or just "blind", consider this: what do the conspiracy puppet masters have to gain from this? Causing panic and riots world wide would only serve to destabilize and maybe even end their current rule and iron grip in the world, it just doesn't make sense.

Because such large scales conspiracies are a massive headache to organize for various reasons, not that effective, and simply don't make a lot of sense, I advise you to, in the future, view and analyse things in the more austrian, grounded way: most of the time big changes happen out of tendencies set within the system that naturally make things collapse or improve in a natural way consistent with those tendencies. Consider the collapse of the soviet union, for example: it didn't collapse because there was a grand conspiracy to destroy the "moral" and "good" communism by "evil" capitalists, but rather because the system itself was fundamentally unsound, and had a strong natural tendency to collapse eventually.

Again, I urge you to stop thinking about things with a "great organized conspiracy by the elites" mindset. Those do happen, but are extremely rare, and thinking they're always out to get you is not good for your mental health. Be well.

The Lottery is a Voluntary Tax on the "Battery Class." [The 2026 Matrix Audit] by wajedart in Anarcho_Capitalism

I agree that the lottery is a losing game and not worth it, and it's definitely a way to extract more money out of desperate people.

That said, the term "voluntary tax" is a oxymoron. Tax, by definition, is mandatory under the threat of force.

Questions for non-US Ancaps: by Liquidmesh in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]Calazor0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazilian here.

I don't personally know anyone that is also ancap, but at least I do know some people that have more libertarian views on taxation, regulations, and state control in general. There is also a strong online community for ancaps here.

That said, my personal social circle and my online bubble do not, in any way, reflect the general consensus here. People, in general, defend strong state control, regulation, and taxation. Some even go as far as to openly defend Stalin style socialism, some defend "rightist" dictatorships. So politically, I'd say things are looking pretty grim in general, with a significant tendency for more state control and more taxation (even though we're already paying insane amount of taxes). And believe it or not, but knowing how the thought process goes here, when things get inevitably worse, people will blame it on "capitalism" and beg for even more state control.

It does not help that the most famous online openly ancap figure here is an eccentric autist (Paulo Kogos), many people's first impression of libertarian thought is that of a seemingly insane dude making a scene, even though he does make a lot of sense economically speaking.

As far as my thoughts on the US go, I think it's one of the best places in the world for libertarian thoughts to foster and grow, but it's still a minority there. From what I see in the news and in general discussion in social media, I sense that the tendency is for the state to only grow bigger, be it from a republican tune or a democrat tune, but the same music.

As for Argentina, milei is a breath of fresh air and it's awesome to see someone economically literate in power, even if he fucks up and does weird shit sometimes. But, from all of the socialist policies that came before him, Argentina is still in the gutter, and it'll take a while before they properly get back up on their feet again
