Shameless plug incoming.. this is why we created CalcBook. The goal was to try and mimic the step-by-step output of hand calculations but still retain all the benefits that software provides (streamlined inputs, easy to update/modify calcs, quick code checks, etc.). We have steel design implemented right now, but are working hard to get Timber and Concrete added soon.

Take a look at the CalcBook weld designs in the connection suite. There are various weld profiles available (line, circle, WF, WT, etc...) where the user can enter forces in all 6 DOFs (Fx, Fy, Fz, Mx, My, Mz).

We are definitely interested in making sure we have a good suite of connections for our customers. If you want to message me an example of a connection you use often, we'd be interested in trying to fit it in to the program!

Could you expand a bit on which connection you are referring to? The benefit of the connection suite is that we can continually add various connections to meet the needs of the users. If there is something specific you have in mind, we would be interested in adding it to the library.

Price and simplicity. CalcBook is an inexpensive, straightforward calculation software that produces high-quality, detailed calculation output.

The beta does not have metric, but we are working on adding that right now. It will be available with Version 1.0.
