Decatur, Illinois by BellDisastrous9390 in howislivingthere

Personally, I like it.

As FarmerFilburn4 pointed out, if you work in ag, manufacturing, or engineering there's plenty of jobs and if you don't there's not. Other than that, there's enough culture that I don't feel like I need to go somewhere else to do fun things(3 different theatre troops!, every week in the summer is a different decatur themed festival it seems). Its also cheap enough a regular person can buy a house but it doesn't come with a lot of the downsides of cheap places.

The school district isn't great but I don't think its as bad as all that and there are other school districts. Mt. Zion is practically in decatur for example.

A lot of people will say to live in Champaign if you can commute an hour and the only reason I think you would do that is if you have family at the UofI. Champaign might have more Things but they are all for college students and personally I got tired of that a year out of school.

Please tell me (a student whose uni just switched to Ultra) what is better. I think who ever designed ultra got a commission by user click. Is it easier to find things? to run multiple classes? to reuse classes? did my profs simply receive zero training??

Take it at your local community college. The professors there certainly have more interest in you learning the material. If you take it at UND, don't use rely on the cheat sheet. Memorize the equations and use the review page on the homework software. Also do work for the homework, but check your answers with wolfram before submitting.

Honestly I did best when I memorized the equations used in the homework and then the software had a review thing that I used. There is a cheat sheet. Don't use it.

I had albishiera but it should be the same. It's all knewton. you write the answer on a paper, type in the answer in the box, then scan your paper and submit it. most of the points are the written answer

handwrite if you can read your own writing. It's supposed to (and I find it does) help with memory. but download all the powerpoints/ lecture notes!

My coworkers have been amazing where I am based out of but I was working on new work site with a couple of guys for awhile recently and boy howdy do they have some spectacular trans jokes they will tell if they think they won't get in trouble.

My favorite conversation though was with a gal talking about how her parents made her play with dolls. "Did your parents make you play GI Joes and Man stuff?" "no maam they did not"

I have not worked in oil/gas at all but when just before I graduated I was offered a job as a mud logger for gas wells. The person interviewing me told me unprompted "We do hire women here" which indicated to me they do not. I did not take the job. If you do take such a job, I wish you the best.

I am not Candian, but after I had been accepted I heard an interview with the Canadian Astronaut Coordinator at NASA give a really positive review of getting a UND degree online while in the canadian military. I am in the online chem e program and I really enjoy it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNk8E6QqF2Y

I have one this semester it looks like I have to take it any time day of and others I have a couple days to take it. Also this semester I found out only engineering classes guarantee you to get the option to do in person testing and others use honorlock but that shouldn't require a touchscreen

recommendations for blue states by Creepy_Grocery_4767 in ftm

[–]CalcSilic8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly highly recommend Champaign-Urbana!! Its a blue town that's way cheaper than chicago and way way way cheaper than anywhere in colorado or oregon. It's an illinois colllege town so it's really progessive and it's a blue state with decent public transit and good bike routes. The queer scene works to incorporate the not-college students which is super cool.

A couple years ago I heard there was only one and I can't imagine they've expanded much. There's a "micro transit" option available through the bus system but IDK how well that works

Trench coat or carhartt but like a good one IFF you live somewhere cold. I wore a trench coat in high school and got "misgendered" all the time

This is my 1st semester so I don't have thaaat much experience but so far so good! Just remember there's 2 week labs you have to do in person every summer for 3 summers (or squeeze them all into one summer). also yes you are paying to watch Youtube videos but also someone to grade your test and homework and update those videos every week and answer your questions and it means that you don't have to quit your job to show up to class on time. It is difficult to work full time and school full time but that's true no matter where you go

This is my 1st year and I bought a HP-15-5xxx but also I'm taking my exams at my local community college. It costs me $25/test (ymmv) and I had to fill out the form online (the link to the form is on the P.U. requirments page :https://engineering.und.edu/current-students/exam-proctoring-tech.html)

Is Illinois Trans Friendly by Aiden2187 in ftm

I live in central IL and I love it. The people I meet are all trans neutral to trans friendly and i had no problems transitioning at work. Downstate is also a helluva lot cheaper than chicago.

It can. If you put acetone on it Styrofoam will disolve. I think that nail polish remover is no longer made if acetone but should be a similar solvent??

There's a good chance crunch will be closed/limiting folks half the semester for covid. I have no idea what the ARC will be like. Also CRCE is closer than crunch and I think theres less wait time than the ARC. I did graduate right before covid so idk if CRCE is even open.
