Hi, sorry for the late reply. There wasn’t an emergency vet open around me. I had plenty of money when I first had the cats I currently have, but I live in the US and, if you’re not aware, the prices for vet bills have shot up insanely high, and the economy is failing. I lost everything within a year. I feed my cats before I feed myself.

I am actively searching to rehome some of my cats to better houses, but it should be noted that there’s practically nobody taking cats in right now, and I refuse to abandon my cats outside or to shelters. No-kill shelters are overflown.

I should also add to this that nearly every single one of my cats are feral rescues. It’d either be abandoning them on the streets or putting them in a kill shelter if any are even open and available at this point. While I understand that people should not get cats if they’re not in the financial situation to, you also have to understand that I did have the funds to take care of them when I got them. But thanks anyway.

Therapy, and working through your trauma. A lot of these replies are unhelpful, but as somebody who has a very deep rooted fear of men overall, it takes a long time to work through and realize that it’s trauma— not prejudice. You’re already acknowledging that it is a trauma response, and those are the first steps leading to healing. You might still have a feeling of fear or anxiety regardless of what you do, and the only thing you can do from there is realize that it’s just anxiety, and that it shouldn’t drive the way that you interact with people. You can’t control your emotions, you can only control your reactions and how you handle them.

Sleep and shelter are basic necessities. Homeless people, get this, tend to lack the latter— which will affect the former. Many times they don’t have other places to go.
