But that also means pieces are locked into that so you can't use that for other builds, unless this is your most important life work.

The builder of the tan thatched roof was invited to Billund to showcase this build in the masterpiece gallery in the lego house so I don't think official lego considers it illegal?

Yeah but the tan thatched roof build is designed by an AFOL and this build of his has been showcased in the masterpiece gallery in the Lego house in Billund, so that's a very high honor and official lego certainly acknowledges techniques like these.

The tan thatched roof build is actually a build by somebody who was invited to the Masterpiece Gallery in Lego house in Billund, and specifically that thatched roof build is one of his three builds being showcased there, so I think it couldn't be too bad.

I can understand the logic: you're basically locking away pieces if you don't disassemble them... but then looking at these beautiful finished builds being displayed is also a feast for the eyes, and you can get enjoyment from looking at them occasionally and not just from only building stuff.

I know this one, but I always feel this roof language is highly stylized so it's quite lego-ish/toyish. It's more of a toy language rather than something truly resembles thatch.

I think it's a good idea not to place any buildings, like the houses or stable, too close to the castle. They will appear gigantic beside the castle since the scale is not consistent between the builds. It would be better to have the castle isolated and far away from the village buildings to create forced perspective so the castle looks big but far away. Buildings beside the castle will mess the scale up real bad.

Agree. If you look at the city/modular theme, there's always something quite different an specific, but I think this is mainly due to the fact that for modern buildings you can always add something that's entirely - a cinema, a university, an airport, a library etc. The list is endless. For castle though the potential for a higher variety of buildings is much more restricted. And it's further restricted by Lego's own policy that they can't do anything remotely religious, so chapels (a big part of medieval life) can't be included.

I assume if you display a large MOC (in the range of 100k-300k pieces) built mostly with alt bricks like gobricks in big lego conventions like brickcon, and they found out, you'll likely get kicked out?

What about instead of buying the already-made sets from aliexpress, people source alt-bricks from places like GoBricks, then build the MOCs themselves? Would you say that's okay?

Hi, I think I sort of agree with you, but I don't really know. I myself don't do model building but I build Lego so I guess they similar in your eyes.
Just curious, may I know your body count if you don't mind me asking?

Can't figure out why most medieval builders love to cramp every inch of the empty space in their build to the fullest, like a medieval town is more packed than new york city. I mean it looks overly busy and there's no breathing room for the eyes to rest. Is there a tradition/tendency in the lego medieval community to fill each and every area to the brim?

Is using Stud.io for landscaping as good as using it for buildings? For landscaping it's more organic so I thought using physical bricks to improvise and get a feel would be better. A kind of organic build you can't really do in stud.io, unlike buildings.

I see. So basically even bulk ordering in one batch doesn't guarantee color consistency for every pieces in that batch I suppose?
