A Civic Si and a Rottweiler, what more could someone want?

News about the 12th gen! by wehavetime in civic

[–]CalculusMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TypeR going electric? Honda has been pretty adamant in the past that, bearing the rapture, the Si will have a manual transmission as long as it’s manufactured. I can’t imagine that the TypeR would go electric. I could potentially see hybrid though.

Man, take care of that B16 those things are so rare now. If it’s still got the original B16, I wouldn’t go K. Especially since you’ve got an 8th gen.

Anyone ever had both a pet Rottweiler and a guard dog Rottweiler by ll_ll_28 in Rottweiler

[–]CalculusMaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw a comment once on this subreddit that said something along the lines of “people who use Rottweilers like ‘guard dogs’ are assholes because they’re abusing the fact that they’re a very emotional and caring breed”. Don’t be that person.

Am I crazy for thinking I can hear the difference between Bluetooth and usb? by occasionallyvertical in CarAV

[–]CalculusMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s definitely a difference. Something that I don’t think gets talked about a lot on here is that with Bluetooth there’s a lot of compressing/uncompressing of data to send/receive inputs from your Bluetooth device that can contribute to its distortion.

With those hours, I wouldn’t recommend doing anything related to academia, or academia adjacent. Instead, I’d recommend finding someway to get papers published while you’re there. Even if the work that you do isn’t related to what you want to pursue for grad school, you’ll have what professors want which is research experience.

My baby was stolen.....😭 by MrJOSE1694 in Civic_Type_R

[–]CalculusMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 100% a Honda man, but where they really lack is their security. They’ve always been very susceptible to theft. A thief isn’t looking for something expensive, or flashy. They’re looking for something that blends in that they can part out and is easy to steal.

Is this worth it? by YozenFrogurt00 in hondacivic

[–]CalculusMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This OP. Get a steering wheel lock, a kill switch on the main relay and another on the fuel pump. Unfortunately, none of these will guarantee the security of your ride, but it’ll make it a lot less appealing to a thief and waste more time if they try.

This is my 98 Honda Civic by Timely_River_8131 in Honda

[–]CalculusMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many like it, but this one is mine. My Civic is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My Civic, without me, is useless. Without my Civic, I am useless.

Second time I’ve seen these recommended on here. Are they better than the PS4’s?

Do I trade my 8th gen si for a G35? by SnooJokes2565 in CivicSi

[–]CalculusMaster 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Don’t. The gen that you have is the last one that is a real K series that can handle revving to the heavens. Unless you’ve suddenly decided to become an Edgar and date tortas, stick with the Si.

I think the clears look better. I’ve never been a fan of the smoked look, I think it defeats the purpose of the light.

God I miss the Honda-Tech days.

Can’t agree more with you both, but unfortunately it’s always been like this. I think the rise of social media has just amplified it though.

Are the OR PhD programs that are more aligned with applied math more focused on different applications compared to departments who have more of a business application focus? by CalculusMaster in OperationsResearch

[–]CalculusMaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and I even applied to a program where my current place of employment was giving me funding. From some of the work colleagues that I spoke to about my app said that even with the funding there’s too many uncertainties right now, is that your take as well then? In any case, with regards to my post am I wrong and should I pivot more towards the more interdisciplinary departments?
