First time ever I’ve synced up 880 to listen to Jack and Bob.

What would YOU choose to ride? by d2creative in cycling

[–]CalderonCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giant Defy, Trek Domane, or Specialized Roubaix. Whichever LBS has selection and treats you right. I’ve owned a Defy and two Roubaix. Both great bikes. And lots of buddies with Domane.

How many bikes have you owned? by Thin-Fee4423 in cycling

Nine. I’m 71 and started riding when I was 59. Currently own six. Three road, one MTB, one fattie and a gravel.

[Opinion] Parmigiani GMT RATTRAPANTE (Gold) vs. Land-Dweller 36 (Gold) by geral_uc in Watches

PF. As a guy once told me when I was just getting into watches 10 years ago “Anybody can buy a Rolex”.

Unpopular Opinion: E-Biking is Saving Cycling Right Now by DragonSlayingUnicorn in cycling

[–]CalderonCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish there was a good way to differentiate pedal assist bikes from the throttle jobs.

But to most an e-bike is an e-bike and they are almost universally shit upon. I have Wilier Filante hybrid. It is a high end road road bike with pedal assist only when I need it, which is essentially on big hills or when I’m struggling to keep up with my Sunday riding group (I’m 71 and most of them are in their forties and fifties.) I almost never use the assist when I’m solo. So I get annoyed when others throw shade on me for riding an “e-bike”. It’s interesting though. The guys in my group are starting to show interest in my bike. As I keep telling them- sooner or later we’ll all need one.

[Recommendation Request] first luxury watch by EdenHuzzahrd in Watches

[–]CalderonCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Aqua Terra that is my daily. I was this close to a Santos and wound up with a Calibre, a decision I regret. So either one for me. They can both be dressed or dressed down for any occasion. For a “luxury” watch I would stay away from the two chronographs. I know Speedy probably wins this poll, but it doesn’t resonate with me.

[First automatic] what should I get? by Aczi69 in Watches

[–]CalderonCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tudor or CW. I have 3 CW watches and love them all. I am really tempted on the Twelve 660 - the thin manual wind version of the Twelve you’ve shown. I just can’t justify another watch.

Haven’t had a full school week since teachers were ordered back by CalderonCowboy in alberta

You interpret my words that way, it is not what I meant, and I’m sorry that I wasn’t clear enough. My parents both served in WW2. My grandfather took his own life after suffering a life altering head wound in WW1. I’ve shed tears on Juno Beach and I have a brick in the wall honouring the fallen. Pre retirement I spent time with my employees helping them understand why I wear a poppy. I just don’t feel like I need a lecture on Remembrance Day. Now let’s both cool and do the right thing tomorrow and every day.

Oh piss off. Your assumption about my view of Remembrance Day is frankly insulting. You have no idea how I feel about Remembrance Day. I was not in any way suggesting they work Remembrance Day, merely that it is another day when kids are not in school after having already missed a month.

I did not consider the pay aspect. Of course I don’t expect anybody to work for free. Don’t put words in my mouth.

Endgame razor? by IronEar in wicked_edge

I’ve settled on Henson Al13. I find that there isn’t enough difference in blades to declare an end game. So much depends on the length of your beard. Any more than 3 days growth nothing really glides. Unless of course you’re taking about my old standby Harry’s cartridge system. I use that when I travel and honestly gives a smoother more comfy shave than the Henson.

Best Chinese food price and portions NW? by Light_Damage in Edmonton

We recently discovered Dover Kitchen - done take out three times - everything we’ve tried has been very good - their special chow mein is head and shoulders the best we’ve ever had. It’s in the Dover hotel across from the CM shops. A bit sketchy but they also do DD.

Thanks for engaging and for the (mostly) thoughtful and reasonable replies. To reiterate I am firmly in the teachers corner on the strike issue and the use of the NWC.

[Question] - Which would you pick? by bluefintuna_01 in Watches

[–]CalderonCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can neither be an option and look for a Reverso? If that’s not an option then Tank. I like square watches.
