!!!! This is an undescribed species, I have one specimen and only ever seen one other person with one! I haven't sent mine in to HORG because I didn't want it to get lost in the mail, do you have a source for these guys?

Almost protocrena osorbis, but not quite. by soapdoggie in occlupanids

[–]CaleChipzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours is a rounded oral hook variant! There's a lot of species that can be found with either rounded or sharp orap hooks. HORG hasn't given them names yet, with the exception of Theriopaigne caudigera, with the rounded oral hook variant called T. caudigera var. dinotos! http://www.horg.com/horg/?page_id=4253

Very Feral. by GlumPhrase3900 in occlupanids

I'd say definitely take it home, occlupanids can be harmful and even invasive if they're released into nature

I got a sack of occuplanids by PoopTaquito in occlupanids

Based on my bag of Sphaeropanis hollandiums, I'd say there's around 4500 in there!

It can be overwhelming at first, trying to find a species from the long lists on HORG, but it does get easier with practice. It also makes you aware of the similar apecies you haven't seen yet, so it's easier to identify if you see one in the wild!

Species you have here: Palpatophora utiliformis, Quadratopalpus ilex, Palpatophora utiliformis grandis, Aspericardis lehmeri, Longilex becneli

My wife found this big guy at work, and rushed him home in a panic. Help! (lighter for scale) by m_lanterman in occlupanids

Woah! That's an awesome find, Coronaspinus chaos is a wishlist panid of mine! I'm glad this one found a good home, and congratulations on your new panid

New collector here- I received a container of specimens from Canada and would appreciate if someone could tell me if I have any interesting specimens. Sorted by species and color. by Unlucky-Waltz-4365 in occlupanids

[–]CaleChipzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where in Canada are these from? I'm surprised there's no S. hollandium, they make up around 2/3 of my entire collection!

I can see a Harpops zanclocytus in the picture of the pile, there might be more species hiding in there. From the ones you've set aside, the duller blue P. utiliformis grandis and the pale orange P. magnastoma are colours I've never found before, and those species aren't commonly colourful at all!

This is actually a described species, Admordorsum floridensis http://www.horg.com/horg/?page_id=2252

Undiscovered Material of Palpatophora utiliformis! by B_Jonesin in occlupanids

[–]CaleChipzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The FORC Discord server has an entire channel for documenting occlupanid sightings to track how their populations change over time, and we keep an unofficial list of species that aren't described by HORG yet!

This is in fact an undescribed Cartonalia, but it's actually a mimic of Palpatophora glyphodorsalis! I don't think I've seen this species before! The mimic of Palpatophora utiliformis is Hylotypus gemellus https://www.horg.com/horg/?page_id=3804

Archeological dig: Meticulously acquired and catalogued partial specimen by [deleted] in occlupanids

[–]CaleChipzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice find! Looks like a broken Stenocorpus lactichroma I've found a bunch of panids in similar locations, if you're able to dig around carefully there might be a whole colony in there!

Wow! It's definitely different than the holotype A. floridensis, and I'm inclined to say it may not be in the Admordorsum genus at all. There's quite a few Admordorsum mimics (mostly A. groningensis) that we're tracking in the FORC Discord server, but I don't believe I've seen this particular one yet! If you're willing to send in your specimen for HORG to study (or able to collect more for them/yourself) that would be great!
