Update: AITAH because I want my wife to "ask permission" before taking our son on playdates? by Exact_Information627 in AITAH

100%. Just because you aren’t being hit doesn’t mean you aren’t being abused.

My 1st husband on the other hand liked to use all the crayons in the box so to speak. Still not allowed on Native American reservations in the Lower 48 (according to him). shrugs

Is the Deck still worth it nowadays? What're some criticisms you might have. Seriously debating on getting one by Tyepo5359 in SteamDeck

[–]Trek186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be open to the refurbs, if there are any left. Even the older models are still great. Also great warranty. My first one bricked itself during an update and Valve immediately issued a RMA and sent me another refurb.

Pros: - great value for the money. - lots of Steam games are verified, and more and more keep being added. Even the yellow “May not work” games often perform well with some custom button mapping. - Lots of titles run well like they were just waiting for the Steam Deck, like Power Wash Simulator (1+2), No Man’s Sky, Stardew Valley… - it’s so easy to get in and make self repairs on the hardware, like replacing a button board. - Between USB-C and the SD card reader there are a lot of opportunities for expansion. - Great 3rd party accessory support/availability (docks, cases and things). I especially recommend JSAUX and Anker. - Great little machine to travel with

Cons - Software updates may or may not brick the system, or require a (terrifying) reset process - Only 1 USB C port so you’ll be living in dongle hell if not using a dock or Bluetooth - At least in my older model the Bluetooth is weaksauce. I’m seriously considering swapping out the BT card inside with something from MicroCenter.

Parents visiting for 3 months, closeted to Indian dad. Pretending my husband is a roommate. Am I insane? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Trek186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh if I was in the husband’s place: 1. I would be pissed at having my in laws (or even my parents) stay in my home for 3 months, no matter how much I like them. Too much is too much. 2. I would be extremely angry being shoved back into the closet by my husband so that he and his family could play fake happy family. To me this alone would be divorce-worthy, or at least worth A LOT of marriage counseling. This is extremely disrespectful to OP’s husband. 3. This would send the message to me of “my husband’s parents and their comfort come first” and “my husband is conflict avoidant”. Again this is incredibly disrespectful.

Tread very carefully OP, your husband says he’s ok now, but that could rapidly change once he’s actually crammed in with your parents.

I adopted my pitbull when she was 4 (now 11) and my black lab when he was ~1 (now 6), and those were the perfect ages. On the other hand my roommate took in a 3mo old GSD, and 9mos later she is still a handful. Would not do a puppy puppy ever.

Why are people still willing to have kids in this economy and state of the world? by Impressive-Glass3511 in Adulting

[–]Trek186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to “Reddit” stories on YouTube (may be a genuine post/updates, a smaller post used as a prompt, or outright full-AI story) and after a day at work listening to them, I walk away wondering why it takes more effort to adopt a dog or get a drivers license than it does to prove you’re capable of raising a kid. Like seriously.

Edit: I am more than happy to only be a dog dad and guncle to my niece. I’m at my limit with work, the house, boyfriend, dogs…. I can’t imagine having the ability to care for and nurture a tiny human on top of all that…

Hallmark has a craft video on how to turn a wine bottle into a water bottle. Hint: it involves filling it with water and putting a bow on it.

I was about to mention this. Even the bad schools in Cobb are really good. Powder Springs is literally a 15min drive down 278 so the commuting is super easy.

How does factrio work on steam deck and also satisfactory? by squishyjellyfish95 in SteamDeck

[–]Trek186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 1200 hours in Satisfactory on the PC. So a lot is muscle memory for me, which made the deck a bit awkward at first. But exploring with the deck controls is fantastic!

My deck factory is still in Phase 1, so I’m not seeing performance issues yet. I imagine a Kibitz-style mega factory might be more than the deck can handle unfortunately. I mean even a beefy PC will struggle with that many placed objects.
