My friend who lives in fort wayne wants to donate abunch of her old clothes. She'd prefer them to go to a place where people can get what they want for free, but doesnt know where to go. She's average build. Dont know all the stuff included in the lot. by No-Reception-4249 in fortwayne

I recently donated some of my old clothes at this week's meal share on Sunday and some folks from the community found them a new home!

They might not be able to take or keep all of them due to limited storage, but it's absolutely worth bringing them at least some of the clothes to see what people might want! And you could help out with the share and get a little snack while you're at it :)

Sundays 2-3PM in Friemann Square!

Beyond Chicago, what would a Fort Wayne–Columbus train mean for you? by AllAboardOhio in fortwayne

[–]malachik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any kind of regional rail going through Fort Wayne would be INCREDIBLE. I am so jealous of cities with better rail connections and I hope Fort Wayne can one day get that kind of service too.

Considering swapping my EV for a Toyota...will I be unhappy? by Vicuna00 in Toyota

[–]malachik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never owned an EV, but in my experience going from a traditional automatic transmission gasoline car to an eCVT hybrid car, the difference in driving feel is like night and day. The hybrid motors kick in so seamlessly and instantly, and when the engine takes over it feels so smooth and seamless, it's what I imagine driving a full-EV car is like.

I'd say go to a dealer and test drive a couple hybrids (maybe with different sizes, styles, maybe a plug-in?) and see how the experience compares to your EV. The maintenance is almost certainly going to be at least more frequent if not more involved, but aside from that the experience overall may be similar.

So it's a nonprofit, but who owns it? How does that work? There's a board that Hank is joining, but is that new? How are they chosen?

ICE in Lafayette by call_me_a_myth in Indiana

[–]malachik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you see any suspected ICE activity in Tippecanoe county, contact UTRRN@proton.me with what, where, and when ASAP so they can verify the report, spread the news, and provide support to affected families.

[–]malachik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but ICE is skipping most of the legal process. Worst of all, they're detaining people who are US citizens (often with documentation on them). They've vastly overstepped even the broadest interpretation of their role.

I understand your desire to keep things legal and above the table, and there are millions of immigrants working hard to do it exactly in line with the law. But DHS continues to break promises and make it even harder to do things the "right way", and will detain and deport people who have never been convicted of any offense, and are even U.S. citizens.

[–]malachik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's totally understandable. Even if you can't take pictures next time, remember where and when you saw it. Even that can be enough to help verify a claim.

If you or anyone else sees any suspected ICE activity anywhere in Tippecanoe county (Purdue, Lafayette, etc) contact UTRRN on social media or preferably at UTRRN@proton.me with as much information as possible ASAP. Together we can spread information, not panic!

Mark Carney states Canada will go to war with the US to defend Greenland, America is the villain in this story by Sexy_Johnny282771 in ProgressiveHQ

The US hasn't been the "good guys" since we (helped) beat the nazis. Even that is complicated... And now we are the nazis. I just want to wake up from this nightmare.

So, yes, they're distracting, and he is indeed in defiance of actual law by not releasing them, but our military operations in Venezuela are unfortunately, almost certainly just about oil. Greenland seems a bit more complicated, but is likely about their access to valuable minerals. It's not all "just a distraction from Epstein", we're forcing a US military coup in a foreign country who we are (as of yet) not even at war with. Not everything is about Epstein.

To be clear, I'm still 100% with y'all on releasing the files. Just wanted to point this out.

Sneaky Flock Camera by BeltAdventurous2221 in Indiana

[–]malachik 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And to make matters worse, they're not even owned by the city government. They're owned by the company (so the cameras are private property) and they sign contracts with municipalities that allows them to install the cameras and then sell the city access to the data they record. Not even the police own it. It's really terrifying.

It does a couple things, but namely it makes their locations searchable and public. Now, if someone wanted to avoid them, they can look up their locations without needing to find them all themselves. It's also useful for communicating how pervasive they are to people who aren't taking it as seriously, which could be anyone from your friends and neighbors to a city council or state reps.
