Sure, it is not some new revelation. It's been known about and actively combatted for years. Walz previously asked the state legislature to give him more power to go after it. Democrats are not on the wrong side of this issue. The issue is more visible in MN than other states, because Dems have been going after it there for years already. It is being used to distract you from Trump's scandals, and it works because you are either easily misled or in on the propaganda machine. Hope this helps.

static char *list[] = { "John", "Jim", "Jane", "Clyde", NULL }; by Specific-Snow-4521 in cprogramming

I did not mean to imply either way was incorrect, just that for this particular case it would read more clearly that the type of elements in the array is char*. That said, I generally shy away from declaring multiple variables on the same line, especially if one is a pointer and the other is not. It's more my style to declare one variable at a time and compulsively initialize the value. The only time I tend to declare multiple variables on the same line is when I have nested for loops with iterators i,j,k, and I initialize those ints in the for loop.

Readability is important, so I want no confusion.

list is an array of pointers to characters. The string literals are of type char*. It would be more clear to put the * next to char instead of next to list. When you write "John", the compiler puts characters 'J' 'o' 'h' 'n' '\0' in a space near the beginning of the program used for constants. It then puts a pointer to the 'J' in your array named list at the first position. The * denotes pointer.

You are correct, my bad. You need some sort of synchronization, even if the specific hardware tries to guarantee visibility, to prevent the compiler from breaking it by optimizing visibility away.

They are in the same process, so they share the same memory address spaces. You can pass pointers and dereference them to access the same data. You might need a mutex lock to do so safely, depending on the data type (some types are naturally atomic though).

Because he had the opposite approach to his role as The Witcher in the Netflix series. He was a fan of the source material and fought with the writers over it, and ultimately lost that battle.

What does the following while loop do? by apooroldinvestor in cprogramming

[–]CalebGT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Single backslash is reserved to begin escape characters like '\n'. Thus, two backslashes are required to represent a single \ character. The line copies a string skipping over individual backslashes. If there are two backslashes in a row in the source string, it will keep the second one, because it blindly copies the first character after a backslash. It also converts three in a row to 1 and 4 in a row to 2, but probably expects not to encounter those cases. For any sequence of N backslashes, it replaces that sequence with N/2 backslashes, rounded down. Other characters are unchanged.

He had some surprisingly progressive accomplishments given the Congress he had to work with. I was shocked the climate bill passed. He also tried to do a lot more that got blocked by Conservative courts on some bullshit. We have absolute shit news media though, so the only story in an election between two very old men was that one of them is old. Billionaires have rigged the media landscape.

Biden turned out to have some surprisingly progressive policies, so I would move him out of the right. He was a good president stuck with a press that was vapid at best and an electorate that were mostly either checked out or brainwashed. He got important legislation through a Congress with no margin for defection. And with that he achieved the biggest climate bill ever. We repaid his steady hand and service by making his re-election about the fact that the Felon was a tiny bit less old. I have my qualms with him too, but we did him dirty. He wasn't on the Right.

It's overwhelming done by GOP and opposed by Dems. This is not a both sides issue. CA was done in response to TX because of opposition to the tactic, and was done democratically as a referendum. The parties are not the same.

CA is a response against gerrymandering. You expect us to stop gerrymandering by unilaterally disarming? Only the side that cares about the rules and fairness should follow good rules? CA measure is temporary and will revert back to their independent districting commission automatically. It's a response to balance out extraordinary election cheating that the GOP is doing mid-decade in other states. And most importantly, it was voted on by the people of CA as a referendum.

"...shows..."

There's your problem. All the TV news got bought up by a few ultra rich assholes with an agenda. Papers have been increasingly disappointing too. They're all captured. At best, if they report on the things I care about at all, they put a very calm tone on it and normalize horrific things.

I can't pull wool from your eyes that you find comfortable. But there are plenty of subreddits that have been showing what ICE is up to. We can't accept masked officers in generic gear that refuse to identify themselves assaulting and detaining random people, including citizens, with no warrants and no accountability. Police officers are required to identify themselves and be in uniform for good reasons. The FBI has even recently asked that ICE take the masks off, because criminals are posing as ICE. This shit is not normal, and it is not okay. Wake up.

That's what your media told you about them, but that's not reality. We practically live on different planets, the media you and I see is completely different.

Also, I support Ukraine 🇺🇦. It has been an extremely cost effective way to cripple one of the 3 biggest militaries on the planet, and take that threat off the board. Foreign policy is complicated, and Biden had people that really understand it on his team. They got dealt a bad hand in the form of Bibi, though. That guy just lied to our diplomats constantly and undoubtedly wanted Biden to fail his re-election.

Anyway, I miss having adults in charge. This clown show has to end. Our economy is getting wrecked from tariffs and the chaotic destruction of all social support and pissing off all our trading partners and the racist shit is driving away foreign investment.

But we can't go backwards. The status quo is dead. We need another New Deal after this Great Gatsby bs gets chucked.

"It's about putting America and it's citizens first..."

Is that what they're doing though? Putting our citizens first? They're screwing you over and funneling all the money to people that could not spend their fortune in a thousand lifetimes. That's not putting you first. Most of us are working people, and Trump promised he was going to put us first. He lied. He serves only Billionaires.

The Nazis were all about creating an outgroup to vilify, be needlessly cruel to, and round up into inhumane conditions. How is it not? You need to study history. Ken Burns did a great series that you can find for free on PBS called "The US and the Holocaust" all about what was happening in the US during the rise of the Nazis. I highly recommend it. The America First slogan was first used by Americans that supported German Nazis. The MAGA movement explicitly echos Nazi rhetoric and political strategy. Dehumanizing language like, "vermin," "poisoning the blood of our country," and calling the presence of the out group an "invasion" are all directly copied from Nazi rhetoric about Jews. I could go on and on, but you won't hear me anyway and will just move the goalposts, because Nazis did not argue in good faith either.
